Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Some light stringy lace.
The aroma had some dark fruits, clean caramel/toffee malts, subtle citrusy hops and some leather.
The flavor was malty sweet through the prior mentioned aromas to guide on into the aftertaste in the same way. Finish was somewhat quick and malty.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good amber ale I think I could try again if offered. PilsnerDoctor32 (241) - madrid, SPAIN - APR 17, 2017

[1/28/17] Bottle/Draught at RateBeer Best festival in Santa Rosa. Amber. Malt, caramel, piney hops, sweetish, bitter finish. mrjez (607) - Osaka, JAPAN - DEC 25, 2016
Bottle, a month before expiry. Pours a very dark mahogany amber, finger of full beige foam. Nicely aroma of caramel, plenty of hops, pine, citrus. Nicer flavour, very balanced between malts that give off caramel and some dark fruit, cherry and plum, and the hops. Nicely carbonated up front before quite a creamy back half and solid pine and citrus bitterness lingering. I tend to underestimate the Hitachino core range but they never disappoint. rodsquad (222) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - NOV 26, 2016
Bottle from Oddbins Rosemount. Looks like Cola swirling with sediment and a thick caramel foam head. Nose of treacle toffees, Cola and bittersweet hops. Caramel malts with a light sparkling palate. Reminiscent of British export ale with a lighter, refreshing palate. Nice stuff.
