GoufCustom (2175) - HONG KONG - OCT 28, 2017

330 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Looks: Clear ruby brown colour; Half finger head with soapy light beige foam which fades in 40 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and attractive full Amber malt, with strong grapefruit, strong caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, floral, molasses, pine, strong resins, bread, lemon and strong grass.

Taste: Mid to light sweet Amber malt, with strong dark chocolate, caramel, strong grapefruits, toffee, floral, light molasses, strong spices, pine, strong resins, dry biscuits, strong lime, mid to strong bitter grassy hops.

Body: Close to medium body. Oozy and quick slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Strong Amber maltyness in a slightly thin but slick background. Loads of caramel and dark chocolate ahoy! Strong grapefruits and piney oozy resins dictate. Flowery with low dark sweetness, spicy (with flashes of ginger!) dry bready with strong lime round. Very assertive!

Hoppiness: Strong grapefruit, floral, pine, strong resins, lemon and strong grass in nose. Strong spices, strong grapefruits, floral, pine, strong resins, strong lime and grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, high astringent bitter-sweet caramel Amber malty finish.

After Taste: Dry. Limey oozy chocolatey and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: From aroma to taste, this one is making a statement all along on how good it is - strong caramel and intense dark chocolate, coupled with equally strong grapefruity oozy hops - and I am convinced it's that good and outstanding! A solid winner you should not miss!

Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAY 24, 2017
Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Some light stringy lace. The aroma had some dark fruits, clean caramel/toffee malts, subtle citrusy hops and some leather. The flavor was malty sweet through the prior mentioned aromas to guide on into the aftertaste in the same way. Finish was somewhat quick and malty. The palate was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, pretty good amber ale I think I could try again if offered.
