Deep plum aroma. Caramel malt, peach, floral hops, bittersweet finish. Elegant and well-rounded amber ale with quite a Belgian character. planky84 (3214) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2015
Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of toffee, burnt caramel, chocolate raisin and black cherry. Flavours of toffee, caramel, dark berries, sweet tobacco. Malt laden finish. petewhitley (560) - Nagoya, JAPAN - OCT 11, 2015
spruce, caramel, coffee, brown, light sweetness, lightly bitter, bitter finish, medium body. Very dark, and bit dirty for an amber ale. Deep forest aroma. Nice balance of sweet/sour upon first taste, but fades into a somewhat unpleasant resiny bitterness. Hard to say if each sip is worth the aftertaste. Bottle from Ruprai, Birmingham. Good beer. Spicy, dry, slightly tangy, ruby, ruddy ale. Nice. BlackHaddock (7232) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - SEP 10, 2015
33cl bottle into a Chimay chalice at home on 10th Sep 2015. Cheers son for winning this for me. Off white topping to a reddy brown body. Malty, yeasty nose, Belgian like in fact. Some hop bitterness arrives in the aroma once the maltiness has elapsed a little, or I got used to it. The taste is also malts first with the hops coming through later, mild yeast presence in the background. Highly carbonated, a little too much for me to be honest, almost ’fizzy’ in nature. Dry finish to the taste, but the hop bitterness does not linger, the malts come strong again towards the end.

33cl bottle straight from Tokyo. Pours a consistent medium head, white to beige; deep amber to dark ruby colour, quite clear and very nice looking. Smells huge malty, caramel, honey, maple, like autumn. Tastes sweet toasted malts, brown sugar, dark fruits, light chocolate/cocoa; medium level sweetness, nicely balanced by a low to medium bitterness. Medium bodied, very slick and lightly sticky, just low enough carbonation. Tried other amber ales during my stay in Japan, and was never disappointed, the style seems to be popular and always coming from superb malts. This isn’t exception, very nice brew Manslow (1629) - Warsaw, POLAND - APR 19, 2015

Appearance: Deep copper, with a lingering caramel head.
Taste: Hops, malts, slight coffee flavour., and a nutty element.
Palate: Very bitter throughout. Medium body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: This beer is your typical amber ale. I really enjoyed the hoppiness, but it was nothing special.
