33cl bottle straight from Tokyo. Pours a consistent medium head, white to beige; deep amber to dark ruby colour, quite clear and very nice looking. Smells huge malty, caramel, honey, maple, like autumn. Tastes sweet toasted malts, brown sugar, dark fruits, light chocolate/cocoa; medium level sweetness, nicely balanced by a low to medium bitterness. Medium bodied, very slick and lightly sticky, just low enough carbonation. Tried other amber ales during my stay in Japan, and was never disappointed, the style seems to be popular and always coming from superb malts. This isn’t exception, very nice brew Manslow (1974) - Warsaw, POLAND - APR 19, 2015

330ml bottle from Seijo Ishi in Shinjuku station. Poured into a shaker pint. Deep amber and rich brown color with a nice tan head. One of the darkest ambers I have experienced. Nice lacing for an amber. Nice prune, raisin aromas on the nose with vanilla, cinnamon, cardamon, toasted malt and caramel undertones. A bit of resin and pine needles come through as well. Nice balanced between malt sweetness with a touch of bitterness from the hops. Very well-balanced amber. Medium body with a nice medium dry finish. GenkiGonzo (1096) - Kyoto, JAPAN - DEC 27, 2014
