Bottle. Amber copper with a medium foam. Aromas are burnt toffee with earthy, woody notes and red berries. Bubblegum with floral aspects and brown sugar. Flavours are sweet, chewy toffee with a solid piney bitterness. Pithy and spicy with red berries. Some plastic and black tea. Pretty good overall. Cask @ West Riding Rooms, Dewsbury. Slightly hazed reddish-brown, but more red with a thick frothy head. With its carbonation it feels a little lager like, although it’s slightly more ’ale’ in its texture. Its chocolate is mostly evident in its aroma, although it’s there in small quantities in its taste.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2012 I have had this beer a couple times on tap and to tell the truth it was always disappointing. It’s better from the bottle, and this rating is of one that was cellared for 7 months, and was much better than usual.
Darkish amber. Strong hops and fruit aroma. Good malt in the as well. Only slightly sweet, some cookies and maybe chocolate and great caramel, cherries and other dark fruits. Good hops that linger on in the finish with the malt. Excellently balanced with head on barley and hops. Truly exceptional. The aged version was extra mellow and smooth.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a deep chestnut brown colour with a frothy white head and loads of lace. The aroma is rich red berry fruit yeast and spice. The flavour is medium bitter with some fruit, peppery spice and liqourice on the palate. The finish is smooth and bitter with a little malt. A super beer I must say. douglas88 (9174) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 13, 2017

Dark amber with a large white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, light hops and some nuts. The taste was soft with some hops, fruit, caramel and something that reminded of chocolate.
