This Nipponia is brewed using two Japanese original materials; "Kaneko Golden," the Japanese ancient barley, and "Sorachi Ace," the hop which once was bred in Japan. Please enjoy the citrus flavor, the golden color and the complex taste.

Important!: This is the original top-fermented version. From summer 2011, Nipponia has been bottom fermented. See that entry.

Massively overrated! Drain pour!! I tried this in a vertical tasting with Mikkeller Hop Series Sorachi Ace, and Duvel Tripel Hop 2013 (Sorachi Ace). The other two were pretty good, but this was literally poured down the drain not one of us could drink it. Definite sweetener, to the point that it was too sweet to drink. Some of the sorachi comes threw, but this really is a terrible beer. If your a small child or young girl you might be in to it, but I cant believe most people wouldnt find this too sweet.

Light brown, bubbly and hazy beer with a small beige foam. Quity fruity, marmelade like aroma. Very thick and oily texture, lots of caramel, some bread, medium bitterness. A thick and marmelade like ale. A very nice brew.

Bottled. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of grain, lemon notes and a hint of vanilla. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry and slightly bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice Golden. 🌟🌟🌟

After a few years in the bottle, nose is subdued but sorachi character is still present, with tangerine and lemon notes. Crystal clea straw colour, attractive. Medium-light body, crisp finish.

Aroma - very muted nose - some hay, straw, sweet malt, and Saaz. Appearance - somewhat hazy golden body, with a 2" white frothy head - that dissipates at a slow rate. Taste - is a nice spiced tang. The malt is slightly dank and a little sweet - with some hay and spiced Saaz hops. Palate - the body is light, texture is on the thin side, the carbonation is lively, the finish a little dank and spicy.
