IPA brewed with Japanese wild breed mandarin "Fukure Mikan". Refreshing flavor of this mandarin complements well with citrusy hop. The perfect balance act of hop bitterness and Umami taste.

corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 1, 2015
Pours a cloudy, dark golden orange color with bright marmalade edges and a one finger off-white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Good retention taking a while to settle and leaving sporadic streaks of soapy lacing behind. Floral, slightly earthy hop aroma with a strong citrus/tropical fruit presence and pale malt backbone. Some grass, pine needle and subtle resins followed by grapefruit and prominent citrus sweetness. Strong orange peel, curaao and blood orange character along with some mango and citrus zest. This is countered by a caramel malt backbone with hints of toffee, biscuit and cracker. Strong citrus peel is nice but the earthier hop notes are muted. Fuller end of medium body with soft carbonation and strong earthy bitterness up front that lingers over the prominent citrus fruit sweetness and malt backbone into a slightly dry, boozy finish. Bitterness and earthier hop notes stand out more so than in the aroma with grassy pine needle and dank, resinous oils. This is again countered by prominent citrus sweetness with orange peel, clementine and curaao zest. Malt backbone is stronger than expected but doesnt interfere too much with the hop profile with hints of caramel, toffee and biscuit. Slight boozy heat in the finish but overall the high ABV is well masked making this unique beer easy to drink.
