Dark brown ale. Very thick. Some sediment, but held up pretty well for having aged several years. Rated 4/15/10

FatPhil (17075) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 6, 2012
330ml bottle (BierKompass.de) - as Kiuchi Commemorative Ale 2011, at 8% not 9% (so in fact has nothing in common with this apart from the word ’ale’, and as I’m sure the last ’ale’ I had from these guys tasted like a lager, I don’t think even that’s worth much.)
5 Sweet sickly boozy aroma, definitely with a belgian strong ale bent.
2+ Slightly hazy orange, brief fizzy head with no retention.
4 Boozy spicy sweet belgian ale retronasals. Touch of acetone and thinner. This is just Leffe cranked up to 8% and feeling like more. Boozy sweet bready malts. Did I mention booze? Solvents get more gluey later in the retronasals. What toss.
2+ Smooth sweet palate, perhaps a bit slimy. Gentle bite from carbonation, and bitter hops too. No fullness to the hops, just the acrid metallic bite. Finish is just like a cheap macro belgian brewery trying to do a strong belgian ale - you can see the resemblence to what they’re apparently aiming at, but you can drive a tram between the two endpoints. Spiciness is messy and more like industrial chemicals.
9 Well, not exactly horrific, it’s vaguely drinkable, but if I had been round a table of 10 tickers, there would certainly have been some left over as you can summarise this in basically 2 sips. One to get all the information to write a review, and the second to just verify that it was as unsophisticated and uninspired as you first thought. And no-one would have volunteered to finish the dregs. I’m not even sure this is under the right beer, but as I will be avoiding wasting money on more from this brewery, I really coulnd’t care less if this spot is accidentally filled. Not complex, not soothing, just a sweet alcoholic mess. Where’s the "add my rating" button gone? Where’s my eyesight gone?!?

Benzai (16681) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - SEP 10, 2011
Bottle @ Joes Tasting shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus. At first clear, later hazy pour, small off-white head that’s gone instantly. Orange color. Smell sweet, some spices, nutmeg or cinnamon. Tastes about the same. Low carbo, low body.

Ferris (16491) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle - Vintage 2008 - Lots of spice and orange. Cloudy orange with a very rich white head. Orange syrup and spices. More like a barleywine, but not great.

Dedollewaitor (16382) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 23, 2011
Bottle @ Odense Summer Tasting, 2011. Pours muddy orange with a small creamy white head. Nose is baking yeast, caramel and spices. Medium bodied. Spicy flavor - herbs and nutmeg. One dimensional. Warmth from alcohol.

bhensonb (15745) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 13, 2007
2004 bottle. Complex aroma of fruit. Citrus, perhaps pear, vanilla and others. Ruby apricot color with a ferocious beige head. Strong fruit flavors, followed by the listed spices. Shockingly good. Finishes relatively dry, with an astringent fruit character.

Scopey (15663) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2011
Bottle at CP&K, thanks to Bunce. It pours hazy deep orange, with a thin foamy off-white head. The nose is rice, light floral, bread, sake and salty umeboshi plum. The taste is sweet orange, pith, mango, apricot, spice, herbal, salty umeboshi, rice, solid underlying bitterness and alcohol warmth. Medium body and fine carbonation. Really tasty and interesting stuff.

djd07 (15543) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 4, 2015
2009 Commemorative Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is rose petals, strong floral, spice. Medium mouth with sweet fruit, light spice, very good.

Ratman197 (15350) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - DEC 5, 2005
Bottle 2005 poured a cloudy orange with a large, lasting amber head. Aromas of citrus, spices, and a hint of vanilla. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of orange, spices, and a hint of vanilla with a mildly bitter finish and an odd lingering aftertaste. I’m not impressed.
