A dose of fresh ginger roots added to the brewkettle creates an intriguing mix of ginger, malt-sweetness , and citruslike aromas and flavors Hoppy dryness is very subdued with ginger-sweet-spicey notes dominating throughout to the very finish.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Amber colour, slightly hazy, big off-white head. Nice aroma of fresh ginger and fruity and flowery hops, hints of lemongrass. The flavour is malty sweet with ginger as the dominant element throughout, hints of sweet fruits and candy. The finish is drier, with moderate hops. A fairly good beer if you like ginger (I do) - but if you hate ginger or are allergic to it, you are looking for trouble here.

3rd November 2008. Cloudy brown beer. Sweet aromatic ginger dominates all aspects of this beer but there is only a touch of ginger burn at the finish. Goes down easy and refreshes the palate with it distinct but light taste.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with a moderately-sized, very frothy white head. Lacing is very strong. Aromas of ginger dominate, with citrus and candy also present. Palate is very smooth with a creamy start and a nice sticky finish. Drinks very similar to a Belgium beer. Flavors of lemon, ginger, and licorice. A strange yet addicting beer.

Bottle at the Winking Lizard Crosswoods location. Pours cloudy amber with a medium tan head. Malty aroma with ginger and sweetness. Flavor is caramel malt, ginger and brown sugar with a semi-dry finish. Not the offensive ginger bomb I was expecting. Reminds me of a Christmas ale.

Pours with a sparkling amber body and an average off-white head. Mild nutty, caramel with citrus. Cherry and peach on the front, and vanilla on the back. Pretty good, but it gets tiresome.

Pours hazy brown amber with very little head. Aroma of caramel and ginger. Taste is sweet with some herby spice from the ginger but not overwhelming. Medium body with smooth carbonation.

Sampled at Village Pourhouse courtesy of CUJO. Poured a very inviting deeply dark brown. Taste was not as much ginger as I would have guessed... not even close. More like a starchy malt tone with asian/belgian spice undertones. Palate was hearty. The image of the bottle is making me laugh..

tap: pint glass: VPH: I must say I like this brewery for their use of unique flavors, this one being no exception. Pours mostly clear deep amber... lots of pour bubbles leaving a solid finger of white head. The nose was very aromatic, very bright, lots of citrus fruits, florals and some spices. The carbonation brings the flavor immediately throughout your mouth... a rush of medium/ full bodied malts, a blend of sweet and bitter that is hard to put a finger on. There is the distinctive scratch in the back of your throat that the spice of ginger can bring, but not overpowering. Truly a solid brew.
