A dose of fresh ginger roots added to the brewkettle creates an intriguing mix of ginger, malt-sweetness , and citruslike aromas and flavors Hoppy dryness is very subdued with ginger-sweet-spicey notes dominating throughout to the very finish.

abemorsten (3618) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - MAR 21, 2010
Large tanned head on a hazy orange body. Good lacing. Hops, ginger. Christmas biscuits and pickled aroma. Flavors are sweet, bitter and alcoholic. Light to medium body. Sticky texture. Some postive memories of Nøgne Ø’s Aku-Aku Lemongrass Ale comes to mind. (33cl bottle at Cardinal Onsdag^2, 17.2.2010)

j12601 (12609) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAR 20, 2010
Bottle. Bit of a gusher, pours a somewhat murky brown with a few grey yeast chunks that settle out to the bottom. Nice clean subtle ginger, malt, a bit sweet. Malty but oxidized, ginger comes through a little bit, subtle, almost a vanilla sweetness. Finishes up with more oxidization, soft ginger, and a touch of bitterness.

12oz bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye. Another Hitachino gusher!! Poured a hazy orange-ish body with a fizzy quickly receding head. Aroma is sour, band aid, medicine and tartness. Flavor mirrors the aroma. Light ginger present. Very active carbonation with a full mouthfeel.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this beer. The beer gushes out the top when opened and then pours a murky orange color with a white head. The aroma is tart lemon with some nice malt and brett character. The flavor is very tart with some brett funk as well as some lemons and oranges. Tart, funky finish. High carbonation and medium mouthfeel.

Beer5000 (6544) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAR 6, 2010
330 ml bottle. Hazy reddish amber body with a fine off-white head. Aroma is ginger, fruit and flowers. Flavor is sweet malt, distinct ginger, fruit and hops. A nice ginger flavored ale with a crisp ginger flavor, still not to extreme. Not particular complex, quite quaffable and well hidden alcohol.

OleR (4804) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 4, 2010
0.33 L [email protected], Oslo. A finger of blond foamy head upon a hazed, dark copper colored body. Perfumed, light soapy aroma of spiced and candied fruits. Quite appealing actually. Ginger is well prononced in the flavor, not predominant though. Medium sweet taste, more fruity than malty. Bon bon fruitiness with a light astringency and restrained gingerized dark malts. Clean on the palate. Crisp finish. Easy drinking for a 7.5% beer.

Pours a cloudy gold with quickly dissipating head. Aroma is dominated by ginger, hints of spice and hops in the background. Taste is sweet with a nice dry crisp finish.

Strykzone (7422) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Tasting at The Stable. Kind of a glowing orange gold color. Sweet spicy aroma with cinnamon. Flavor is also spice and dry hops. Just a hint of maltiness. Pleasant but not complex.

Kestral (506) - Årnes, NORWAY - FEB 26, 2010
Bottle. Pours a dark, hazy orange with a soap bubbly tan head. Aroma is a bit soapy as well. The ginger seems well integrated, not overpowering, and it comes off as candied. There are other notes as well, vanilla, a faint hard roasty note, and something vegetable-like. Sweet and nectarlike on the tongue at first before a sizable fruity and spicy finish cleans the palate. Dry,light and refreshing, this isn’t bad at all. Was very surprised to read 7% abv on the label, not a trace of alcohol notes in this one.
