COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Red Rice Ale was brewed with special red rice which had been cultured in ancient times in Japan. Please enjoy the complex taste and beautiful natural color. The ale has complex Sake like flavours with a hint of strawberry in the nose and palate.

THOUGHTS: Complex, but in a fairly subtle way. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it had a lot of complexity for a beer that was full of lighter flavors that aren’t necessarily all that complex. Hid alcohol fairly well among such light flavors. I was surprised that it was quite sour. Great balance with sweetness, sourness and acidity. But complex doesn’t always mean great. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, orangey gold with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had light cereal; moderate fruity, dusty and musty yeast; pear; peach, pineapple; a little flora; lemon; lemon rind; apricot, and slightly sour fruit. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, sour and acidic, and slightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and bitter, and moderately sour and acidic with a surprisingly long duration for all the the light flavors. There was light fruits, light citrus, pear, peach, green grape, lemon, apricot, maybe a little pineapple, a little citrus rind, pineapple near the edge where it is bitter; yeast; sour fruit; a little honey; and duty and musty yeast. The light to medium and dry body was made to feel even lighter by fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly alcoholic finish.

Al club de tast de l’Olut, massa empalagosa... amb gust afruitat (fruit vermell), tot i que segurament és degut a l’arròs vermell que desconec.

Sorprendente. Diferente en nariz que en boca. Empieza dulce i termina un poco ácida. Botella compartida en Club de Cata Olut

Shared bottle at Olut Sabadell. Pink gold, crystal clear. Strawberry aromas. Sweet start moves to slightly sour and not sweet. Dry and creamy.

12oz bottle consumed at Caphe Banh Mi in Alexandria VA. Poured a semi-ruby red color with a little pink hue. Fluffy, white head. Aroma was sweet malts, light grain. Light cherry blossom. Flavor was light sweet citrus notes. Nothing over the top. Drinkable for what it is and what i was eating.

Pours a cloudy amber with a thin white head. The aroma is mellow. Its balanced between caramel, cherry, bread, with mild traces of earthy malts and grassy hops. The taste is sweet, very dry, and has a very subtle bitterness. A heavy strawberry flavor stands out here, but its odd that it really isnt fruity. I think I do get a slight sake taste, somewhat grassy, cola, a bit of oak, hints of licorice. Most everything here is very subtle, but Im digging it. Short strawberry aftertaste. Medium bodied, smooth in texture, and average in carbonation. Unusual. I liked it.

I don’t know what it was happening with my bottle but it was not drinkable and probably infected, I don’t really have others explanations. The color is orange/red transparent, regular carbonation, thin foam. The taste had notes of rotten mushrooms, notes of rice, taste of turpentine, really bad sensation at the palate, some notes of strawberries at the final but it was not a good experience.

Copenhagen 29/4 2017. 33 cl bottle from Mad & Vin. A very red Owl on the label which seems to be appropriate when considering the name. Seems that this beer is "an Ale brewed with Red Rice". Pours hazy amber with white head. No lacing. Aroma is sweetish. Caramel, strawberry with light notes of humid forest. Medium carbonation and watery palate. Flavor is sweetish but pleasant. Sweet malt. Light bitterness but with a little sourness. Aftertaste of caramel. I’m not usually into sweet beers - but this one is actually quite good - although a bit thin.
