From a bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a rapidly disappearing white head and no lacing. Smells of spices, coriander, lemon, and wheat. Taste is the same as the aroma but with a slightly metallic off-flavor. Finish is crisp but without any hoppiness but with a faint lingering grapefruit skin bitterness and a disquieting metallic tinge to it. The palate is very thin, relatively over carbonated, and has an absence of any substantive malt or wheat body. There is none of the inviting citrus overtones that I would normally expect from this style to provide balance. A very disappointing beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample from bottle shared with father. Aroma: intense smell of spices, nutmeg, cloves, all spices, etc. Orange zest. App: clear pale with minimal white head, minimal white head. Taste and palate: light body, moderate carbonation, medium sweetness, spices in mouth, moderate bitter finish. Overall: this is simply disgusting. So much spices in mouth. Ouch. 3 sips is enough. Pour father who drank almost the bottle by himself probably not wanting to hurt my feelings saying its bad.

An underappreciated style and Hitachino does it justice. Tried at their Brew Lab in Tokyo in 2017 with Sam and Janet. Slick, sweet, and spicy!

This has been one of my favorite white ales for a very long time. I can remember drinking about 8 U.K. Pints one time at a British pub in Tokyo. Rated offline years ago but need to revisit. Lovely soapy nose with oranges and a touch of ginger. Smooth mouth with lots of soapiness, ginger and chamomile.

330ml bottle. Hazy golden yellow, medium sized white head stays, leaves lacing. Aroma is refreshing, sweet, fruity, orange peel, coriander. Taste is crisp, refreshing, quite dry, tart, coriander, orange peel. Long dry aftertaste, orange. Light bodied, quite lively carbo. Nice, different, witbier. I like this dry, crisp mouthfeel.

Small bottle from local Alko. This quite different brew reminds me of saying: If it doesnt challenge you, it doesnt change you. Fred Devito Not my style but skillfully made brew.

Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow color with a small white head. Aroma is spices, wheat, herbal notes, nutmeg. Taste is yeasty, citrus, spicy, cloves, coriander, somehow even some saltiness. Bitter and dry finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. A good witbier, unusual but good, and refreshing.

Bottle from waitrose. A very surprising beer and Im not sure who could do a better white ale. It wasnt sweet at all which was very refreshing. Flavour profile isnt massive but definitely a great example of a white ale.

Aroma: Nutmeg, yeast, coriander, citrus/ lemon, tiny bit of dank (from yeast?) Appearance: Hazy yellow. small head on pour that dissipates quickly. Flavor: nutmeg, corriander, lemon, pilsner malt, Belgian wit yeast. Balanced finish. A bit refreshing. Mouthfeel: Medium to light body but appropriate for the style. carbonation dissipates quickly leaving it a bit thin. Balanced finish. Overall Impression. A decent refreshing beer.

Very hazy orangey golden color, topped with a medium large white head, frothy and immediately gone. Fresh and spicy aroma with some ripe bananas in addition and some fruity presence. Sweet, juicy start, spicy presence later on, some bitterness present. Very sparkly body, slight peppery finish. Light. Not bad, a bit different. Fresh but has a bit too fluffy, juicy feel.
