Pours a dark golden with a huge tan head. Sweet malty nose. Rich, malty flavor.

Pas trop mal. Supporte très mal l’oxydation. Nez très caramel, réglisse, cannelle, légèrement fumé. Bouche assez sirupeuse mais vite rance, léger caramel, un peu plus de fumé. Moins de subtilité et de corps. Dommage.

Deep amber, big cream colored head. Aroma is malt, cookies, hintnof oak. Taste is malt, brown sugar, vanilla,oak, plum. Not getting strong sake flavor, but this is delicious. Palate is smooth, carbonation subdued.

Aroma: faintly malty; not much aroma; Appearance: murky amber pour with thin white head that lingers; Taste: oddly reminiscent of sweet potatoes; malty and lightly spicy; Palate: medium body with long, sweet finish; Overall: not really a traditional belgian strong ale, but okay. Might get again.

A murky light brown beer with a quickly settling light head. Nose has odd wet dog aromas alongside some caramel, rye bread and Taste is mildly sweet with a very strong, harsh and lingering bitterness. Soft carbonation and medium to full body. Not my favorite, flavors are a bit muddled and the bitterness is too harsh.

11.2 oz bottle. Fun, unique try here. Reddish orange pour with a thin swirling head. Dry, very wood like aroma. Flavor has a soft cherry impression, with a dry oak. Has a sweetness that does not bother in any way. Caramel, dry wood finish. Beat beverage involving sake I’ve ever had. Very nicely done.

Deep muddied brown coloured body with a ruby and violet tint, all with a very strong brown glow and a super thin, barely covering tan head. Aroma of sake, alcohol, grain, earth, cereal, chocolate, grapes, pungent figs and a bit more caramelised sugars. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong earthy flavour at first with an almost sour note at first then showing some very refined alcohol and oak flavours that leave the palate relatively clean and nice with barely any malt body showing through. Aftertaste shows the sake very cleanly with the oak, dry grass and earth, along with some fruit - figs and plums and the bit of caramelised sugars that get through the end. Overall, a well structured and nuanced beer that reminds me of a lot of japanese things, but this shows well, just not very strong or pungent throughout, which is okay. I sampled this stubby 33 cL bottle purchased from Tamura’s Market in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 31-December-2015 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington on 30-September-2016.

Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #54. I didn’t write down whether this was bottle (330ml I assume) or draught; seems likely to have been the former. Anyway, consumed at Acadia Café in Minneapolis, August 2008. Gorgeous lasting full thick off-white head tops a hazy deep rusty red-brown body...nose is lightly sweet, yeasty (basement dampness) with some hints of stewed fruit (apples, pears)...sweet and citrusy body, faintly hoppy, pleasant light alcohol buzz throughout, rather unusual overall, like a mix of Sprite and bourbon with Belgian yeast in a very full, not-quite-syrupy but well-carbonated body. Strange...didn’t love it, but now that I think about it and read these notes, wouldn’t mind trying it again.
