330ml bottle. Pours an unclear dark orange with lots of yeast particles floating around and a large, frothy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, dried fruit, peach, apricot, orange, sake and a hint of oak. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, dried fruit, sake and oak with a dry, bitter, warming finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Interesting.

Excellente.

11.2oz bottle: This one pours a hazy darker amber color. There was just a touch of an off white head that leaves no lacing. Interesting nose. Dark fruits, toffee and a hint of the sake. The taste is good, if a touch different. Caramel malts, faint dark fruits, a touch of sake. It has a faint sourness to it. This is good!

Aroma: Smoked, cooked rice, old liquor (brandy, rum, sake), ripe fruits (stewed orange, plum ?), toast, biscuit, volatile alcohol in the background ; Appearance: clear/sparkling dark red, minimal white head ; Taste: medium sweetness, then mild bitterness, followed by a salty sour feel, and (Im not totally sure of it) a hint of what I think is umami ; Palate: full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, warm, moderately long aftertaste. Overall a great beer, with a rich depth of flavours and a very pleasant complexity. This is however a somewhat sophisticated beer, not fully accessible to the untrained. I would recommend it with Stilton or old Laguiole (or similar cheeses).

Appearance: dark brown, not much head or carbonation. Nose: has a definite wine nose, plum, caramel and brandy - reminded me a lot of the Flying Dog Horn Dog Barley Wine. Taste has a dominant grape musk taste similar to brandy, as well as toffee\caramel, raisins and plum port. A complex beer, which wont be for everyone, but one of the more exciting beers I have tried to date. Price Paid: 2 on clearance.

Pours a dark amber with small white head. Complex aroma of caramel, banana, apricot, coriander. Smooth silky taste of burnt oats, dark chocolate, raisin, wood, bread with a smooth slightly metallic finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours opaque bronze with light tan head. Funky nose of raisins, sweet cherries, and earthy, sour fruit notes. Raisins and toffee upfront followed by sweet plums with subtle chocolate notes in the long finish. Fine carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A copper color with a white head. Aroma contains some caramel, apricot, citrus, and spices. Some burnt wood in there too. The flavor is full of spices. I taste citrus, ginger, caramel, and apricots. A bit of alcohol is present in this one. Aftertaste is sweet and a bit smokey. Overall a nice but unusual beer.

Pas trop mal. Supporte trs mal loxydation. Nez trs caramel, rglisse, cannelle, lgrement fum. Bouche assez sirupeuse mais vite rance, lger caramel, un peu plus de fum. Moins de subtilit et de corps. Dommage.
