[ Trade by Alex420 ]. Clear medium to dark orange color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, moderate yeasty, spicy, anis seed. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
11.2 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a light yellow head. Fruity and orange like aroma. Flavour is caramel malty, quite solid sweet and slight spiced. Just before the finish it has a liqourice like note. Clearly taking some flavours from the sake barrels. Lovely flavourful. Finish is a lingering fruity and barrel like flavour. (Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Pours a hazy, amber golden with a dense, beige head. Very refined, woody aroma. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel and some distinct, woody accents bedore a fairly bitter finish. Excellent! Cloudy amber brown beer with a thick slightly off white head. Rich beer, slightly sour but not at all acidic. Creamy palate. Aromatic and slightly bitter malt and sake flavours. A woody tone rides alongside. Very flavoursome and lip smacking.
The solution to gushing bottles is to drink the beer on tap. It passes the buck to the barkeep.
Appearance was cloudy deep orange with a medium white head that stays for quite a while and leaves reasonable lacing.
Smell had an unusual mixture of peach and apricot.
Taste was sour, lots of malt. Slight bitter edge. Not sue what the sake barrels donated to the effort. Finish reminded me of Lemon Pledge.
Surprisingly good body.
An interesting idea. I haven’t tried it in a bottle, but those who did might want to give it a try on tap. cgarvieuk (24166) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 13, 2011
