Bottle Conditioned, special;
Rich ruby porter. "Postman’s Knock is a beer offering an intelligent blend of complex ingredients, the rich brown beer with a smooth fine head has a very chocolately character. The combination of subtle flavour notes of vanilla, treacle and roast malt gives an initial rich sweetness leading to a velvety chocolate finish."

Geruch dezent schokoladig. Geschmack leicht rauchig, schokoladig und etwas säuerlich. Nicht besonders ausgewogen und ziemlich unrund. Nicht so der Hit.

john44 (3400) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 24, 2017
Bottle. Hobsons say this is a "Strong Mild Ale". Rich Ruby in colour. Malty; roasty malts, coffee, some chocolate, hint of vanilla. Fruity; some dried fruits. Hoppy; mildly spicy hops. Sweet malty throughout with a slight bitter edge. Easy drinking. More Mild Ale than Porter. (2011-04-21)

Bottle from Beers of Europe [241216]
Dark ruby, clear, thin rim, almost no head
Aroma of light roast, soft spicy fruit
Taste of soft roast, some dark fruits, bit woody, dab of earthy hops, slight vanilla
Palate - Very soft carb, medium body, soft sweet. Finish of soft dark fruity caramel
Overall - Bit flat, malty beer, quite nice malts on this, would be better on cask

Bottle. Brown in colour, slightly hazy, small beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, chocolate, toffee and light hoppiness. In taste roasted malts with light mocha and herbal bitterness. Medium to low body, bit watery, rather low carbonation, finish is surprisingly quite dry and roasted.

chinchill (5315) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 23, 2016
500 ml bottle of No. 3. 5.1% ABV indicated. Consumed on BB date. A: Dark but clear cola brown with pleasing ruby-brown highlights and a modest size light tan head. Good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma: caramel and chocolate malts with a hint of spicy hops. Flavor: Roasted malts dominate but spicy hops are evident. Hints of pepper, chocolate and toffee. Feel: near medium bodied but seems slightly watery. Smooth. Medium+ carbonation. Overall: Better aroma than flavor.

pivnizub (10811) - Bochum, Porř, GERMANY - AUG 15, 2016
Bottle: Almost clear, deep ruby-amber coloured, small stable off-white head; toasty-caramelly and a bit fruity-vinous nose; mild bitter flavour with a hardly detectable residual sweetness, pretty light bodied and surely not soft; slightly lingering dryish, but pretty watery toasty-caramelly finish. What an euphemism to call this pretty watery porter "rich"...
