Cask (handpump) @ Earl of Essex, 25 Danbury Street, Islington, Greater London, England N1 8LE.
[ As Hobsons Up ’n’ Down ].
Light unclear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, malty, grassy, malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat.
Unclear straw coloured. Huge, Belgian-style head at first. Not at all like an English bitter. Good and pleasant aroma of English hops, although slightly sour. Similar taste. A refreshing and highly drinkable beer, but not as good as a proper English bitter. To be reserved for a nice English summer’s day with 25 degrees, no rain and blue skies. I.e. may be stored for decades. Holmen1 (5870) - Stavanger, NORWAY - MAR 16, 2014
ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 21, 2013
Bottle from Vaaland Spesialbutikken Ølutsalg, Bryne. Pours a slightly hazy bubbly golden body with a medium creamy white head. Nose is strawberries, pale malts, wet grass and hints of fruity ale notes. Taste is peaches, pears, wet grass and hints of pale malts and bitter herbs in the finish. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Pretty boring, but fairly drinkable. Fin (10538) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2013

Bottled, 500ml from The Co-Op, Banbury. Gold with white head. A bit of a gusher on opening, plenty of life happening in that bottle. Thinnish, lagery type beer with a light lemony note, juice rather than zest, thin crisp lagery malt. It’s ok for a beer to watch England beat Scotland, which made it slightly more enjoyable. As I did a fair bit of Offa’s Dyke in April I think I earned this one, and believe me, it does go up ’n’ down. minutemat (5472) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2013
500ml bottle from Ludlow Food Centre, sipped whilst waiting for my phone to charge at a campsite. A light and breazy ale, very mild malts with a tantalising sniff of citrus. Nothing to write home about. SarkyNorthener (4614) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2013
Bottle conditioned. A gusher. Golden beer with small head after a very lively pour with floating chunks of sediment. Aroma is citrus hops and a bit of bread. Taste is also citrus hops and bready with dry malts. This beer tasted quite good. Would it have tasted better without the sediment? Gorm (1899) - Sandnes, NORWAY - JUN 29, 2013
