Bottle, exp.date 18.12.00
Clear reddish brown with a small offwhite head. Very sweet nose, sugar, red berries of raspberry, maybe even strawberry, faint notes of toffee.
Sweet taste, fruity again on a woody-caramellike background. Very soft mouthfeel, mediumbodied at best.
It doesn’t taste as old as I thought it would be, what did InBev put in this to keep it in this shape?
However, after many years, this is a non-complex, sweet and pretty enjoyable beer. sunevdj (4123) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - APR 1, 2006
Pours a clear (with a few floaties) pale cobber with a slightly tanned head. Sweet with aromas of caramel malts, dark fruits, yeast and alcohol. Portlike. Medium bodied. Dry finish with aromas of dark fruits, Also warming alcohol in the finish. NoiZe (2322) - Zeist, NETHERLANDS - MAR 28, 2006
Aroma is nice, fruity. A bit cherry. Flavor lacks of complexity and balance, but is however enjoyable. A bit fruity, a bit spicy. SHIG (4964) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - MAR 20, 2006
Poured a brown color with light brown creamy head. Smelled fruity with a caramel malt finish. A sweet flavored taste with malt finish, pleasant tingle to the taste buds. gnoff (10838) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 15, 2006
Bottle from Swedish "Systembolaget" on November 29, 2005.
Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 14, 2006
Darker color than the "Grand Cru" that I tried it alongside. Not as nice scent and taste as the earlier mentioned, but not bad either. I can however taste the alcohol in this one.
Brown colored, little light brown head. Spices, berries and toffee in aroma with mild licorice and alcohol. Medium bodied. Berries, sweetness and mild alcohol in flavor, some toffee and licorice come up too. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAR 8, 2006
Bottle at the Helter Skelter, Frodsham 10/02/2002
Amber mid brown coloured with a cloudy appearance. Some sour fruit aroma. Warming hop finish. Saarlander (1686) - Saarlouis, GERMANY - MAR 6, 2006
Malty, bready, dark fruit, a little chocolate in this one, was nice how easy on the tongue this one is, alcohol well hidden to me, a nice after dinner drink. gilvanblight (826) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2006
Nice chocolat brown with a thick head. Smokey taste with a bit of weak fruit. Mixed taste that really didn’t got that great together, the balance seems off. A bit sweet but more bitter with a sour finish. A nice warming alcohol taste in there as well. MrManning (2009) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 1, 2006
Bottle at Chaucer’s Pub in London, Ontario. Hazy dark plum pour with an active and noisy mocha head. Impressive fig aromas with boozey malt aromas dominate. Yeasty esters are also present. Anise and booze in the mouth, with a rooted plum and fig taste. Strong and sweet, with a good warming quality to the finish. A winner.
