UPDATED: DEC 6, 2004 Pronounced WHO-GAR-DEN, This is a great beer that alot misunderstand. First I DONT DRINK THIS BEER, I hate belgium beers, HOWEVER it’s my wife’s fav!
On to the review, It’s a cloudy almost white golden wheat beer, herbs on the nose, thick white head. palate of silk. Smoth taste, just a hint of hop, mild sweet with a domonat flavour of roses. Herbal aftertaste, Cilantro and just a hit of zest. second aftertaste clean, like a american dry. Leaves a lovley white foam on on walls of you’re glass, jst like a good beer ALWAYS should. SPECIAL ATTRIBUTE: feels soooooo good in the tummy. Calming slowly roaling gentle tide. Exelent soother to... umm ...when a girl... ummm, well you know... once a month for 5-7 days... Now on to HOW to drink it. First, if you have it in the pub, a lemmon wege will be sitting on the rim. DONT PUT THIS IN THE BEER. the acid completly cancles the flavours. WASH THE RIM WITH THE LEMMON BEFORE EACH PULL ON YOU’RE PINT!!!!! it’ll add the perfect amount of lemmon to every mouthfull. If you ask for a WHO-GAR-DEN and they correct you with HOH-GAARDEN, tell them that you were right in the first place, and belgiuns are actualy offended by the false name. IF YOU HAVE THIS AT HOME. first, ignore the bottle instructions. Take a chilled bottle, and SLOWLY rotate it upside down. Hold it for 20 seconds, roll it back strait, another 20 seconds. Repeet. Rince a 12 oz glass, If you’ve got a Hoegarden Glass, use it, if not a strait Pillsner glass is better than a goblet. Rince the glass with cold water, shake it so there are small sparce drops of water all through-out. open beer. Wait 5 seconds. pour 3/4 of the beer at a 45 degree angle. Let beer rest 50-60 seconds while you SWIRL the remaining beer to dissolve all leftover lees. with the glass on the table, pour the remaning beer strait in the center of the head. Try to get every drop of foam from the bottle. Wait another 10 seconds. Use a knife or you’re finger to "cut" from one side of the glass head to the other, smothing the head flat with the glass and removing all head above the rim. 1/8 a lemon on the rim. And you’re done. Exelent beer for a lady, plus if you go through all trouble to pour you’re lady a beer, it shows care. Cheers! tulsajeep (12) - USA - SEP 2, 2007
Simply the best thing about summer is getting to enjoy this great beer. I could easily drink a truckload of these - and usually try.... janubio (883) - SPAIN - SEP 15, 2007
Very pale colour, really almost white. A good head that lives long enough.
Aroma is mainly citrus, with coriander and floral notes. Flavour has some acidity, but silky. Taste of citrus, floral notes, coriander, a bit hot.
One of the best anod more refreshing beers, wonderful as an aperitif or just alone in hot days. Coreyryan09 (16) - USA - JAN 14, 2008
This is by far my favorite beer of all time, i would suggest this to anyone, regardless of there prefrence on beer styles, of course i am probably biased because witbier is my favorite style. It pours very cloudy with a nice white head. It almost has a lemon lime smell to it along with hint of lemon zest in the flavor, very drinkable beer with a wonderful after taste as well. One of the few beers i’ll drink with breakfast. beerbelly123 (1) - san lorenzo, California, USA - JAN 20, 2008 does not count

Bottle - from the Bruno’s grocery store on the corner of Hwy 150 and Shades Crest.
At first taste, I was like, "WHOAH, yum!"
Much better than Natural Ice, but then again, so is dog urine - just kidding - seriously, this is some wonderful stuff! FrankyBunz (8) - Scarberia a.k.a. Scarborough, Ontario, CANADA - APR 12, 2010 does not count
Fell in love with this while visiting Amsterdam, best wheat beer that I have ever had. It pours a cloudy almost white golden look with a thick white head. It’s sweet with a dominant flavour of roses with an herbal aftertaste. Toss a slice of orange in your pint glass & it tastes even nicer. ozzy999 (1) - owasso, USA - AUG 21, 2010 does not count

By far, still my favorite beer of all times. Is especially great with oranges! Have to thank my boyfriend for getting me hooked on hoegaarden. Goes down easy, and I love the citrus taste.
