Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor, NYC tap ($7): Pours light brown with a beige head. Aroma is fruity, malty, hint of hops, and a good bit of sugar. Taste is subdued doppelbock. It remains very drinkable despite the high ABV and the maltiness. Medium bodied I would say. It is a little bit sweet, but not too much so. The hops provide a nice finish. I enjoyed it, even though I was drinking along in a bar full of suits. Not bad. solidfunk (9017) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - OCT 11, 2014
Not the best for style. Some light roast and caramel with a little hint of coffee. Brown pour with OK head and lacing. Light sweet finish with decent grain profile. Soft carbonation. Tap at Max’s. travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 21, 2014
Tap. The smell is roasty, grainy, rye bread, raisins, plums, and toast. The look is clear, thin head, and brown. The taste is mostly the same, grain, malt. jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - SEP 21, 2014

Tap @ Biermuseum Koln, large sample. Clear orange to amber color, short head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, bit earthy hop. Quite sweet in taste, caramel and toffee again, bit bitter. Easy drinker, flavorful. HonusWagner (2191) - Florida, USA - APR 10, 2014
A rather straightforward, inoffensive doppelbock, a bit caramel malty sweetness, not too much fruit presence, drinkable but otherwise not noteworthy. On tap WOB Wellington. CanIHave4Beers (4188) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - MAR 11, 2014
Pours a deep mahogany with a tight medium sized off white head that leaves a decent lacing on the glass. gnoff (10711) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - JAN 24, 2014
The aroma is rich with lots of toffee & caramel without coming off as overly sugary... It’s got some light chocolate and is lightly boozy. It’s a big malty inviting aroma... not always something I’m after but it’s hard for me not to be drawn in by this one.
The flavor is as expected, very malty. It’s a sweet beer but doesn’t quite get into the cloying territory. It’s got an alcohol spiciness and just enough herbal hop character to bring some balance to it. It’s got a nice chocolate on toffee thing happening and a little bit of cooked fruit.
Maybe it was the right beer at the right time, but I really dig this... and I went in with very low expectations.
Draught at The Independent, Clearwater, on January 19, 2014.
Clear brown color, tan head. Sweet, malty scent. Sweet, malty, grainy, sugary taste. Grainy aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.
