Probably one of the fairest commercial descriptions on Ratebeer. Dark amber clear under a large very fine bubble pale beige head. Fruity almost a molasses malty, doppelbock like nose. Thin sharp palate. Flavourwise it's a bit disappointing. Medium light candy sweet malt with a touch of hop bitter late in the middle and finish. Thin watery blandish cola like finish. unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - OCT 29, 2006
Ordered this on tap at the Hofbräuhaus München, Germany. Very dark brown, roasted malt aroma, a little carmel. Ein maß dunkel, bitter. RCL (2030) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 21, 2006
On tap. Pretty good, but I could have used a bit more sweet caramel flavor. The hops bitterness seemed a bit flat too, but the balance was very nice. yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 1, 2007
Tasted 02/01/2007. 12oz bottle from RW&S. Rich golden-hued chestnut, bright, with a very light tan, creamy, medium-lasting foam on top. Malt dominated nose: biscuity, toasty, slightly coffee-like a very slight touch of plastic from the alcohols as it warms. Good malt sweetness, toasty through the middle with a little hop flavour (slightly grassy). Bitterness and toasty malt linger, with warming alcohol notes. Nice - perhaps a touch warm in the fermentation, with those alcohol notes coming through. PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 10, 2007
Tallahassee, Fl. - Market square Liquors, 12 oz bottle. Medium to dark copper pour, slight, beady off-white head. Good, sweet, caramelly aroma with some essence of wort. Flavor has some nice chocolate hints with a backdrop of caramel, some molasses stickiness. Hint of bitterness in the finish. Slightly thin mouthfeel - but not bad for the style. All in all, a most decent Dunkel.

Amber with white head & fairly good lacings. Caramel, malty, bready - soft & medium bodied. Light roast & sweet. Overall very pleasant dunkel! jb (3254) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 3, 2007
Looks, smells and tastes pretty much like every other dunkel I’ve tried over the past few days. Brown with orange highlights, thin head with some lacing. Nice aroma of caramel and dough. Extremely nice palate - better than average for a dunkel maybe, candy undertones, stickiness, a bit of hops is nice, get some rich toffee. JorisPPattyn (10005) - Ursel, BELGIUM - OCT 15, 2007
Draught Very stable yellow head, leaving lace, over chestnut-brown beer. Rainwater, dark autumn leaves, and a bit fruity - and of course very malty. Again leafy & malty; sweet, but nowhere exaggeratedly. Coloured malts, without roastedness. Ends a tad woody. Quite well-bodied, slick, near-syrupy. Much better than feared, to be honest. Draught, Archer Ale HouseFantomasus (291) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 26, 2007
Bright dark brown. Figs, molasses and brown sugar in the aroma. The body is light, and a bit watery in the finish. Flavours of light molasses, graham crackers and slightly sticky sugariness. Decent balance.
Pours orange/amber with an off white head. Aroma of faint malt and hops. Flavor is more of the same. Nice balance w/ a quick finish. Nothing amazing but very drinkable.
