330 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with a very long lasting off-white head. The aroma is quite clean and malty, no hop oils detected. The flavor is of dark malt with a subdued bitterness. This is how you brew a traditional Munich Dunkel. For all you unfamiliar with this style, do not expect the typical raisin/prune/cocoa flavor found in almost every American dark beer. Do not expect the high viscosity and thick mouthfeel from the overuse of caramel malts. Expect, rather, a highly drinkable, refreshing beer with a dark malt accent. This is one of the finest examples of the style you will find anywhere which is meant to be enjoyed by the liter.
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2017 Great German dunkel. Dark brown in appearance spicy aftertaste with caramel DerWeg (1727) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 23, 2017
Dec 21 Advents Calendar bottle, pours a dark clear brown white head. Flavor has some apple and raisin pie, some bready caramel and molasses and hints of barnyard like a very light Doppel so there's regional character in this beer which is clearly straddling traditional and tourist expectations very well. Typical Noble hops are less annoying under the robe of sweetness and lightly earthy beauty. I could drink this any day. sirzekel (71) - Georgia, USA - NOV 10, 2017
Had in Helen at Old Heidelberg. Can have more than one. Easy to drink, without strong bitter aftertaste.

Enjoyable. Light bodied, a touch on the thin side but still good palate. Mild dark malt flavors, hint of cocoa, but not esp sweet, I'd say a semi-dry, though it still mainly features it's malt profile - maybe a hint of caramel or bread. Weak nose. Brown color.

On tap at Bavarian Bier cafe, Sydney. Pours a thin cola black with a thin head. Aroma: roasted malt, brown bread, mild bitter coffee notes. Taste: Roasted malt, toasted bread, very mild caramel flavours. Roasted malt dominates the flavour balance. Thin to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Easy to drink. This is one of my favourite Dunkel beers, and best drunk by the stein! neur0 (1429) - Hannover, GERMANY - SEP 24, 2017
Sigmund (7966) - Tau, NORWAY - SEP 10, 2017
500 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail (despite not being an ale!). ABV is 5.5%. Dark reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Distinct malty aroma, notes of brown bread and caramel. The flavour is also distinctly malty, but slightly less sweet than expected. Again notes of brown bread and caramel. Very moderate hops. matty (448) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 11, 2017
