The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Very pale gold color almost clear, a lasting frothy white foam head and very little action in terms of carbonation. A lemon aroma thats also piney and hoppy. Not really a wheat or malt aroma behind it. The taste has more malt behind it as compared to the aroma but not what you would expect of an Oktoberfest style of American crafte types that have a darker color. It is clean and crisp with a perfect amount of hops - if that sounds like a bud commercial, well this is what bud should taste like. A great great lager entirely unlike my idea of an Oktoberfest but entirely bohemian.

Bottle. Pours light gold with thin head. Aroma and flavor were of apple juice and little else. Very light bodied. Certainly a clean taste, but does not have the complexity of other Octoberfests.

No 646 Rated: 19 12 2008 Bottle brown, 500 ml, Appearance pours shiny, beautiful golden, crystal clear body with a typical gentle carbonation of the body contributing to the vast, huge, dense, compace, frothy, regular in structure, creamy white head, head is quite huge in size, very slowly collapsing and giving nice lacing, perfectly looking for its style, Aroma front is dusty, chalky, cardboard and papery nose, gentle lemon lime spicy hoppy profile, well balanced and combined aromas, classic Oktoberfest Bier fitting perfectly to the style and creating a norm, all in all aroma is gentle but noble and denoting well brewed beer, Flavour front is very chalky and dusty, than gentle sweetness with notes of clementine, lemon, grapefruit seeds, coming towards bitter oriented and mainly sour, dry finish, much more dry than many Oktoberfest/Marzens in fact the dryness Oktoberfest that Ive tried, very spicy and clean finish, finish duration is medium to long, Palate body is medium, texture is dry, carbonation on palate is soft to moderate, finish feel is dry, highly astringent, chalky, gently bitter and generally clean and fresh

And the German beer safari continues. Bought at Trinkgut. Köstritzer glass used. Small head and mostly diminishing. Clear Body. A bit dry texture, soft carbonation. Hay and straw and i mean a lot. Moderate but biting hops, good balance. Nice citrus taste. Oktoberfest beers are rarely exciting, and this one isnt either but its well balanced has a pretty robust body for its type and strenght. I was a bit surprised actually. Still maybe only really good if you eat a spicy and yummy schnitzel with it. A bit too boring but drinkable. Cheers

MrRain (472) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 7, 2008
12oz green bottle, poured into a lager glass. HMO pours orange-yellow with a larger than average creamy white head. It has a very typical lager aroma consisting mostly of hard water, soap and metal. The body is soft. The hops are present but subtle, acting as a supporting ingredient and not a starring one. This beer is not terribly malty either. It is easy drinking and refreshing if unremarkable.

From a sixer purchased at Bevmo for just $7,99 this poured a clear yellow with a foamy white head, and good lacing. Nose of caramel malts and grassy hops. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor show some hoppy bitterness, and he finish is bitter. Nothing fancy and quite drinkable.

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Golden color with a huge creamy off-white head. Lots of Noble hop aroma. Medium body with creamy, but biting carbonation. Flavor is a bit bready with lots of spicy/grassy hop. Finishes bitter. Pretty good lager.

esox (1225) - Oulu, FINLAND - NOV 29, 2008
Pours yellow and crystal clear. Medium head is white, sopay and quite fast diminishing, Thin but ok lasting lace. Malty aroma is grainy, alcoholic and there is some hops. Flavor is sweetish malty, alcoholic and slightly bitter in the finish. Sweetness is balanced by the hops towards the finish. Palate is soft. Quite carbonated, but in a nice fully way. Medium to full bodied. Very easty to drink - a lot.

Pours very light for an Ofest; sparkling clear and gold colored with a white, average, fizzy head which disappates quickly to a mostly diminishing head with minimal lace. Nose is faint and not appealing with light grains, light herbal, and faint grass. Flavor does not get much better; light sweet grains, faint honey, moderately light herbal bitterness, and faint grass. Palate is lively to fizzy, light-bodied, thin, and watery. Finishes with some honey sweetness matching herbal bitterness in a short finish. By far the worst of the style I’ve tried. More like a bad Pils.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Malty sweet aroma, a bit grainy. The flavor has sweet caramel, grain and light hoppy notes. Not bad.
