COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

DrnkMcDermott (3075) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - SEP 16, 2003
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2004 Draft. Pours very well, with a foamy German type head. Has a nice roasted malt aspect to it, which actually calls to mind a well-made Vienna lager. In other words, this is a pretty okay beer. The texture and mouthfeel come across like a standard American "dark beer," which can get in the way of one's enjoyment. 2004 rating: Color is light as a Hamm's these days, which can also detract. They keep making them lighter in germany to match the lowest common denominator in drinker preferences...

Couleur dorée, bonne mousse. Nez leger sur le caramel. Gout caramélisé avec des notes de malt-noisette. Corps moyen. Fin avec très légère amertume. Ca passe, presque a la date limite.

Bottle shared in Watford - thanks Fergus. Pours clear gold with s creamy, white head. The nose has some wheat, pale grains, some hay. Light-medium sweet flavour with sugary pale grains, wheat bread, low bitterness. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Sugary finish, some toasted honey, crunchy grains, wheaty biscuits. So so.

Bottle at home picked up from Watford M&S. A clear golden light orange coloured pour with a lasting white froth. Aroma is semi sweet, apple and raisin, little wheat. Palate is semi sweet, frothy, moderate carbonation. Flavour is semi sweet, nutty apple, little age, loose wheat. Not bad.

Better than the Munich Helles to me. Bit more body slightly nutty sweet give this one a little bit more deepness.

Bottle. Brilliantly clear. Light gold color. White frothy head. Skunk in the aroma and flavor. Light malt, light body. Not that great.

Aroma is certainly on the sweet side for a German lager (although in line with other Oktoberfest beers I remember). Very quaffable though, easy to drink, not devoid of all character. Decent brew, for what the style is worth. (50cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Magnífica lager con un sabor muy redondo como a pan que te deja muy satisfecho. De las mejores de su estilo. Repetiré sin dudar.
