(On tap at the Hofbräuhaus in München). Classic biscuity aroma, with some sourness. Pure clear golden color. The epitomy of fresh German lager, served in an iconic beerhall. The "maiden" servers are all blonde and buxom, the clientele is noisy and joyous, and the beer is refreshing and filling. What’s not to like?

Bottle: Poured a golden clear color with a medium lacing white head. Aroma is crisp and clean to the nose. Taste is fresh smooth very clean. Lived up to everything I had heard about HB!

I am raiding my beer cellar and found another Hofbräu München hiding in the back. From a 500 ml bottle this poured clear and gold, with big fat white head and sticky lacing. Nose of light malts and grassy hops. Clean mouthfeel. Flavor is mild and the beer is easy to drink.

This clear yellow beer poured with a huge white head that subsided in a couple minutes. There is not much flavor - just a little malt with a slight hop bitterness. However, it is a refreshing drink on a hot summer day.

Watch out Hofbräu München Original has a huge head so make sure you have that Lager glass handy. If you pour this beer and there is no head than there is something wrong with either the brew or yourself. Not much happening on the aroma front, hope mainly. Hops are dominant in the flavor and the malt is present as well. I had this beer done in four gulps. After my initial two sips of course.

The original. Had on tap in Munich, much much much better than bottled. You have to try it in person.

Golden bodied, with a short, quickly dissipating white head. A clean tasting lager, for sure, no less, but not too much more.
