brown very dark, almost black something shady. compact beige foam that leaves appreciable lace and slowly disappears. Smell, semi sweet toasted reminiscences and somewhat floral, with hints of yeast, bread and subtle banana. malty, sweet and roasted flavor, some soap and spicy with small hints of classic English porter. Some nut nuts type. Aftertaste very light but long, low bitterness and creamy. Very well balanced between yeast and malts. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - OCT 7, 2004
In the 0.5L bottle at IL Casale in Schwaig, Germany. Brown and cloudy in appearance. Large fluffy head. Very tart flavor. Finishes well-balanced. Works pretty good with antipasta. Hanna (10) - Turku, FINLAND - FEB 4, 2006
Bottle. Large foamy off-white head. Dark stoutlike colour. Flowery grassy hoppy aroma. Bitter at first, sweeter after a while.
Sweet rich flavour. Smooth and creamy like velvet. Slightly malty. Refreshing. Very nice.
Too drunk to enjoy it properly, I’m afraid. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 26, 2007
(Bottled) Hazy darkish brown with a small head. Dark-fruity, mildly toffee-wheaty-malty aroma. With dry banana hints. Dry, wheaty flavor with lots of banana esters and some roastiness. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated, slightly foamy palate. A reasonably nice Dunkelweizen - quite similar to the regular one. JK (6252) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - OCT 28, 2007
Very dark brown color with some sediment. Good wheat aroma, some bubblegum, and just a hint of roasted malt. Flavor is full and sweet. There is a light citrus bite, as well as some banana, and a little bubblegum. This bottle might have been past its prime, but still a good beer.

.5 liter bottle. Pours a hazed woody nutty brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is nutty, toast, mixed between spicy peppery phenolics/clove and also fruity esters banana, green raisin, and even slight green apple- toast, nuts, dough and yeast. Flavor is earthy, leathery, toast, biscuit, fruity esters, caramel, slight mineral ash hint, light banana, and toffee in the end. Dry and earthy with a light dry finish. Ok. Aroma: Very strong banana aroma, plus figs, apricots, etc. Some coffee too. Super fresh.
Mouthfeel: Medium and foamy mouthfeel.
Taste: Super fruity (see above), slightly tart, and just a touch of bitterness. I like it very much.
Finish: Very dry and fruity. No bitterness whatsoever.
Overall: A very good example. Superb for refreshment. bartlebier (4118) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JUL 27, 2013
50cl bottle, fresh. Not your typical Dunkelweizen, with a near-opaque acajou colour, notes of porter-like roasted malts, yet light mouthfeel, this surprisingly tasty, oxymoronic beer is aptly named. Pear from the yeast, milk chocolate and some char from the malts, cinnemon and pepper spice from well-dosed hops. Interesting beer on all levels, very well and cleanly executed for the notoriously murky & moorish Dunkelweizen style.
