Draught at Special Brews, and this is what they told me it was. Pours a hazy brown color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is sweet bread with some slight caramel elements to it. Taste is also slightly sweet, with bread and yeast being more salient. alexsdad06 (10638) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Draft at Hofbrauhaus Newport. Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have banana, cloves, wheat, light roast, light citrus. It is pretty good for the style. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - AUG 6, 2013
Draft to taster at Hofbrauhaus Newport. Looks good for the style; a hazy golden orange with foamy white head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells of clove and banana. Tastes like it smells, only less robust. Solid on the palate. Decent beer. Chudwick (3314) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - DEC 11, 2011

Great example of a German hefe. Bananas, cloves. It’s a nice hazy orangish yellow with a beautiful white head. Great stuff! phaleslu (10546) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 22, 2011
The August seasonal hath returned. Gigantic dimpled glass mug. Pours a very cloudy orange color with a small bone white head. Really nice, ’big’ German hefeweizen that doesn’t hold back on the flavor- banana, clove, wheat, melon, and some funky and rustic notes that really bring it up a notch. Big sweet malts. Medium-bodied, with a malty, wheaty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Super cool beer. Beats the other hefes to come out of here. garrison (812) - Cin. city, Ohio, USA - AUG 29, 2010
I had a liter glass mug full of this spicy, darker hued hefeweizen last night while treating my galpal to dinner... it was a very good beer amd a great dinner! wxman (1840) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - AUG 8, 2010
After going to the Hofbrauhaus for five years, I finally got around to this one. As the description points out, this is simply a darker version of their standard hefeweizen. It draws a pale cloudy brown with the expected thick eggwhite-like head that lasts all the way down. Very tasty. Has that maltier, caramely flavor you’d expect from a darker roast, but the wonderful banana and clove refreshing flavor is also there too. A great weizen!
