Clear, light amber body, firm white head. Malty aroma with a clean Saaz hop aroma. Well balanced, easy drinking. Good use of hops and malt. Crisp and clean. Not over the top, but good hop presence for the style and sufficiently malty.

Grandpa (327) - Verona, New York, USA - JUL 25, 2006
On tap in Newport. It was golden and clear with a small white head. Well balanced but light in both malt and hops. No aftertaste. It could use more malt character and more hops. It was pleasant went down quickly. Nothing memorable

aracauna (3606) - Georgia, USA - JUN 13, 2006
Pours a rich gold with a good head. The malt is relatively rich for the style and is almost too sweet. This could use a bit more hop bitterness to balance it out.

In all honesty one of my favorite beers. The first time it toched my lips, I became addicted. lovely aroma and better taste.

pivo (2685) - GERMANY - NOV 16, 2005
Light lager nose, straw color, large tight-bubble head. Citrusy malt, light hop bitter end - just enough to round things off. Medium body. Quick and clean. Solid helles.

another crappy example of overrated pseudogerman beer. hoppy is the only redeeming quality, though when it warms, the malt comes in too strong.

On tap in Newport: Light golden color with a medium whith head. Lightly sweet aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet, crisp and clean with a light touch of hop spice in the finish.

Tap at Newport. Amber color with medium white head. Good aroma of malt and hops. Flavor was full with hops and sparkle taste. Good finish.

Very happy to have the Hofbrauhaus right across the river. This reminds me of a long afternoon spent at the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich many years ago. Ironically I find it not to be as good as another Cincinnati dortmunder. But it is the Hofbrauhaus Original.

Brodie (540) - Boone, North Carolina, USA - SEP 6, 2004
Sweet malty aroma, grainy, fruity hops, very clean. Clear pale yellow, thin white head. Solid noble hop flavor and bitterness, grainy malt flavor is present. Medium body, fizzy carbonation. Very good pale lager, clean and fresh tasting.
