The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass quite dark, not black. Very smoky aroma. Starts also smoky-malty, earthy, a bit like plum. Goes down soft as velvet. Aroma very nice till the end. Unusual, but good! MoritzF (10018) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - OCT 29, 2007
(bottle, with thanks to Quack-Duck) Clear, dark brown colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Moderately sweet and toasty nose with caramel and a touch of cacao-powder. Medium-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, soft on carbon. Slightly roasty malty taste with light impressions of burnt caramel; quite dry, light-sweet finish with a balancing burnt and hoppy bitterness. Solid Dunkel. pivnizub (10729) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - AUG 18, 2007
Bottle (Danke, Quack-Duck !): Chestnut-amber coloured, quite stable off-white head, sticking to the glass; caramelly, roastmalty nose with a faint metallic touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour; becomes drier towards the roast-malty, caramelly finish. Well done...... Quack-Duck (9487) - Down South, GERMANY - JUN 27, 2007
bottle, bought at the brewery. Schwirza was a smuggler in the Bohemian-Bavarian border region. Dark brown colour, large creamy head, malty nose. Flavours of malt and roasted malt, quite sweet, but very pleasant. Hoppy background, hints of caramel and hoppy finish and aftertaste.
