3.5
mjs (7582) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 16, 2016
(Bottle, 0.33 l, at HBF2016) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molassess, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had molasses and bitterness. A well done doppelbock.

3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 30, 2015
Bottle best by August 2016. Clear amber-copper with a short off-white head. Quiet aroma is basic caramelized malt and toasted grain with faint metallic / penny qualities. Full bodied, rich, sticky, malty, semi-sweet (well-suited for body), light to moderate bitterness. Lots of savory and chewy melanoidins, no major fermentation defects (barely a trace of alcohol and no plastic-y off-notes). Aroma has limited expression and in the mouth the character is more of that pancake and maple syrup maltiness (highly caramelized).

Dark orange beer, small and quickly vanishing head. Smell is a nice combination of light malt and grassy hops. Medium bitterness, Grassy, herbal hops are the dominant aroma. Hint of hay. Full body, finish is rather abrupt. Hoppy Doppelbock, enjoyable but nothing special.
