11.2 oz bottle from notes. Pours a slightly hazy dark copper/reddish brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, earthy, metallic and boozy, just all over the place and not to be repeated.

Bottled. Murky reddish brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, some sweetish malts, ripe fruits and mine mineral/metallic notes to it. Flavour is mild alcohol, some cardboard, a bit metallic as well as some sweet malts and mild ripe fruits.

thorongil2 (3425) - , Ontario, CANADA - MAR 21, 2014
(bottle) clear bright amber colour with a small tan head; aroma of dried and stewed fruit; balanced flavour with long light bitter finish; much more of a doppelbock than a barleywine

2.9
hotstuff (5258) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 11, 2014
Rated on 5-23-2010 (Bottle and brewed in 2009) This beer pours a small ivory head with a lengthy retention, transparent orange body, slow rising carbonation, and spotty lacing. The aroma is lightly malty and toasty. The taste is sweet, malt and some hops. The palate is tingly and thin. This beer is medium bodied. This beer lacks character and flavor as there is not much going on with the flavor. This is a beer that is somewhat forgettable.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. Amber with a white head. The aroma is full of toffee, booze and dark fruit. The flavor is similar with a lot of apples, dark fruit, toffee and caramel. Even at just over 8 percent this one is pretty boozy. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Draft at lions pride -amber orange pour. Sweet rich malts, tart sour notes. Dark fruitiness. Sour flavor, berry notes. Rich maltiness followed. Y a big sourness. Decent

On tap (in tulip) at Blind Tiger last Sat night (12.29.2012) with Erica, Matt, and Steph. Ordered it for e and had a few sips of it. Color was dark brown/purple. Nose a little sugary sweet and malty. Heavy malt flavor but also a pleasing sourness with some dark fruit and heavy sugar. Heavy malt beers can bore me, but this was livened up by the accompanying tartness. I don’t know why this is rated so poorly for the style - guess I’m just biased towards acidic/tart/sour beers.

Bottle. Hazy amber color, medium off white head. Aroma of sweet toffee. Taste is sweet caramel and figs. Plain.

jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 15, 2012
11.2oz bottle in a snifter. Pours brown with a cream-colored head. Aroma of pale and bland darker malts, plus a little bit of hops and hints of alcohol. Flavor not the best for a barley wine. Average texture. Not the best beer.

2.7
jtclockwork (17264) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours muddy brown with off white head. Nose/taste of minerals, ;paper, caramel, candied fruit and malt. Taste is heavy on paper and minerals with a caramel malt body. Lighter bodied.
