theisti (4179) - Kansas, USA - NOV 9, 2012
500 ml bottle purchased at Andy’s Liquor in Rochester, Minnesota. The pour is mostly clear golden light orange with a 1/2 inch off white head that falls pretty quick. The aroma is bready, cereal grains, some light herbal and a hint of caramel sweetness. Some metallic is in there as well. The taste is cracker bready toast, gives way to an herbal grassiness and finishes back with the cereal husky grains. The mild sweetness of the nose is not present in the taste. The metallic somes out as the beer warms, detracting some. Regardless, a flavorful beer. The palate is light to medium bodied, gerat unfiltered mouth feel, and a dry mineral finish. Really easy drinking beer, I liked this.

Draft. Lightly earthy caramel malt and dry hay aroma. Cloudy amber with moderate tan head. Moderately sweet honey, milk, caramel malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Great body and balance. Smooth and fuller bodied than the official Oktoberfest beers of today.

Jabic (661) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - JUL 21, 2017
Ar: Grass; moderately toasted malt; earthy hops; a hint of medium-light caramel. Ap: Amber-brown; clear with particles; large light tan head with excellent retention, leaving an exquisite cap of puff and creamy foam. T: Clean toast with a tangy maltiness; rich caramel and toffee; medium bitterness, quite earthy in hop flavor; toasted dessert bread and a faint brown sugar. P: Medium body with high carbonation; finish is medium-dry. O: A very rich, powerful marzen; the toasted malt flavors are very punchy and coating; nice hop notes; caramel flavor is solid.

Draft at Cafe Berlin in D.C. Transparent, orange body with a half inch of white head. German lager and fresh hops aroma. Similar flavor. Fresh, quaffable, delicious.

$4.70 pint+ bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours orange with almost no head to speak of. Aroma is grass, leaves, light fruit, earth. Flavor is green and grown leaves, grasses, cheap lager, grains. This is a top 50 Oktoberfest? Meh.

Draught at Gourmet Haus. Malt dominated but lacking well rounded, rich aspects. A little husky. Slightly hazed copper.
