Cask at GBBF 2009, 4th August 09 & also at the Bricklayers Putney, 5th Oct 09. Ruby dark brown with some white head. Strong initial flavour of blackcurrant cordial and then a rich caramel & honeycomb taste. Full, slightly oily palate that coats the mouth. Better to have a half than a full pint. Gravity cask at Wandsworth Halloween Beer Festival, 2010. Pours dark brown, semi-clear, with a light head. Dark, lightly tart fruits, including plum and cherry, and malts in the nose. Fairly sweet, with more fruits such as plum and dark cherry and lightly toasted malts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a vinous texture. (bottle) Dark brown colour with a ruby shine and a beige and short foamy head. Moderately roasty malty aroma with notes of chocolate, caramel, liquorice-spice and a whiff of dried fruits. Roasty bitter flavour, medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Hearty roasty malty base with hints of molasses, caramel and dark chocolate, accompanied by subtle fruity notes towards the moderately dry and bitter hoppy and roasty finish. Dark mahogony brown with slightly reddish hues and a good sized light tan head.
Nose is bready malts, dark fruit tones, light cocoa, dates, sticky toffee pudding.
Taste comprises cake mix, bready malts, treacle toffee, dates, muscavado sugars.
Medium bodied with a little bite, fine carbonation, sweet fruity tang in the finish.
A most decent old ale, I’d happily return to a bottle of this as a winter warmer ... IF ONLY I COULD DRINK A BEER I’VE ALREADY HAD BEFORE WHICH I CAN’T BRING MYSELF TO DO ANYMORE ... AAAAAAAArrrrrrrrghhhhhhhh

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Apr 2010 - Dark Brown in colour. Very Malty; roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, toffee. Very fruity; dark fruit and berries. Hoppy; earthy hops. Sweet Roast Malty & Fruity Ale. Dry roasty finish. Enjoyed this a lot. Nice Beer! (2010-04)

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2017 Dark brown body, tiny light tan head. Aroma... Chocolate, good maltiness, light raisin, caramel, lovely! Mild dry malty body caramel, light tart touch, fruity, just a tad soapy. Fresh. Nice enough and yes, tasty. Not a world beater but a very beer nonetheless, just slightly too thin.
