COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - Chritmas. Year round bottle conditioned.
First brewed shortly after the foundation of the brewery, OTT is a very rich, dark ale. We use 4 different malt styles - pale, crystal, chocolate and malted wheat - each of which has a unique character. Local Fuggles hops added at various stages during the boil enhances the beer’s depth. Old Tongham Tasty is named after the village where we brew in a farm on the edge of the Surrey Hills. Its complexity drinks ’like a festival of different tastes on the tongue’ - at least that’s how it was described after a lengthy sampling session.

Mungo (2470) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2004
Bottle. Fleeting taste of chocolate with first mouthfull which rapidly disappears to leave liquorice flavours which develop into a complex burnt, treacly taste. Very viscous and satisfying but begins to cloy towards the end. Well worth a try but a whole bottle is a bit much.

Bottle, bought at Cockneys, Aarhus. Pours a beautiful, deep, chestnut brown with a fine, frothy, off-white head. Sweetish aroma with lots of caramel, some roasted malts and a fruity edge with some red berries. Lowish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is a bit weak, compared to the aroma. Some light roated malts and chocolate with a subdued hoppy dryness. Quite drinkable.

[email protected] Sweet aroma with licorice and all kinds of dark dried fruits. Very dark brown, light brown head, good lace. Very sweet, licorice, laurel, light bitter, herbs, quite complex. Medium to light body, lightly warming. Flavourful, low drinkability due to the herbs, quite complex.

Bottle. Deep brown with a coat of beige head that disappears. Aroma of singed toffee, nuts, stewed fruits, a meadow. Taste has stewed fruit, toffee, chocolate, some floral/ herbal note. Rather flat and thin - bottle says brewery conditioned, not bottle conditioned - and not quite mouthfilling. Nice spiced chocolate finish. Suspect that bottling has ruined this.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma was fruity and malty. Taste was quite enjoyable; some sweetness, liquorice and fruit, as well as a fair dash of chocolate. Could have had more bitterness.
