0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Clear golden pour with a white slightly clingy head. Just a hint of lacing. Smells like wet grass and hops. Assaultingly sweet. I totally wasn’t expecting this. I really must admit: I’ve been drinking full bodied strong seasonal beers tonight. Maybe my tastes are off due to that, but this tastes like a sweet bowl of grass and clover. That said it’s still better than if I had went to the fridge and stole one of my Dad’s Molson XXX. I probably owe Hogsback a re-rate at some point.
Golden color with a modest size, stable light beige colored head. Light aromas, some grains, some hints of light fruit, perhaps a bit of floral hops, hints of diacetyl. You really have to work hard to find the scents, and when searching hard, you find some hard things. Sweeter start with lots of grain. Pleasant enough malt flavors. Tight carbonization. Vintage lager seems to fit. Seems like an early fall type of brew.

Pours a foamy creamy looking head. Active carbonation. Has a slight cloudy golden amber appearance. Ok lacing. Light malty aromas with subtle hints of mild hops. Flavours are quite malty with some creaminess. Some grainy malts, toast and nuts as well. Slightly sweet. Hops are mostly resin and spices, mostly due to the use of more types of malts. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied and the sweetness and bitterness is well balanced. Not too bad. Brewed like a real lager should be. Definitely better than most mass produced lagers. Pours clear gold with a white head. Aroma is malt and grain. Taste is similar to aroma and a bit sweet but not too sweet. Nice beer. mnurda (1289) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - APR 2, 2016
Canned sample from a friend in Ontario...not sure why it is rated so low. Quite liked it ametras (1706) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2015
473ml can. Clear amber with a foamy white head. Flavors are cereals and honey with grassy and fruity notes. Light body, moderate carbonation, slick texture.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2015 Getting some caramel and toffee on the nose, but can’t get much through the popcorn sweetness. BytownJon (64) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 22, 2014
Tall boy can: Solid pub lager - creamy finish but no real complexity. Colour is reminiscent of a macro but with a wet bread and malty cereal aroma, very aromatic. Easy drinking, no aftertaste. I’d chose over a macro any day of the week but not my 1st pick. HippyHop (674) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 31, 2014
This is pretty indistinct. Pour is pretty blah: decent colour but no life to it whatsoever. Nose is mix of grainy sweetness and acidity. Taste is sweet grainy malt with a teasing hint of Saaz spice on a slightly dry finish. Body is medium but the carbonation is pretty soft, borderline flat. Pretty meh overall. (Rating #5672) Red_hop_blue (3) - - JUL 25, 2014 does not count
Ok, nothing special, kind of disappointed with the overall taste. Kind of boring
