3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at the brewery. Poured a deep ruby-brown color with a moderate off-white head that slowly faded to a bubbly layer and left nice spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel, faint cocoa, moderate roasted malts, a light smoky sweetness, and a soft leathery earthiness. Smooth, lightly sweet entry leads into a caramel sweetness, giving way to a leathery earthiness pairs with a light hop dryness that follows into the finish with soft undertones of roasted malt and a sweet meatiness. Smooth, light mouth feel. It’s not as heavy as a lot of browns, but that’s what makes it appealing, it’s so tasty and easy to drink. Another damn fine beer from the folks at Hogshead.
On tap at Hopshead, pours a clear dark copper amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out bready malt and light toasted toffee. Flavour is quite restrained, with English bready malt and a hint of hops. Rather restrained but pleasant brown here. Solid. djd07 (14508) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 24, 2015
Cask at Wtf 2, pours a dark copper with small beige head. The aroma is nuts, wood, roast, toffee. Thin mouth, roasted malt, dark fruit with light oak, good. Marheb (5755) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 31, 2015

Tap - once again, Hogshead makes a brown that I not only find drinkable, butreally enjoy - combines a nice toffee sweetness with a balancing mineral bite, moderate mushroomy earthiness, a touch of leather and smoke - moderate bitterness and toasty malts - lightly peaty finish - excellent brown. ajnepple (6622) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 2, 2014
On tap at Colorado Plus. Brown and clear appearance with ruby hues and an off-white head. Aroma and flavor of roasted malts, toasted grains, light toffee, caramel, earthy hops, coffee and bitter chocolate. Mild bitterness, crisp and smooth with an average body. Solid brown ale. onceblind (9664) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Clear dark brown under a thin foamy tan head. Nice nose of earthy hazelnut and toasted English muffin. The flavor is smooth and subtly sweet with some nuttiness and a darkish malt tone, a bit of toasted biscuit, and sweetish brown ale tones in general. Nothing unique but nothing bad for sure. wchesser (2076) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Deep brown. Nose of toasted malt, touch of caramel. Taste is light toasted malt, light bitterness, some cocoa, and finally coffee as it warmed to room temp. Good brown-very drinkable and fairly complex.
