(En fût à la brasserie): Pain brûlé, chocolat noir et mélasse dans une mesure raisonnable. La base malté est finement charpentée, dangereusement propice à l’engouffrabilité. Block (2688) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - FEB 21, 2015
Black pour. A little more dry than the oatmeal stout. Dark chocolate and roasted malts. Standard. wchesser (2071) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 23, 2015
Cask at brewery. Black with thick frothy head. Nose of light chocolate, dark malt, green hops. Creamy and plush mouthfeel, medium body. Taste follows nose. Terrific example of the style. ajnepple (6453) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 10, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Black appearance with a lingering, light brown head and thick lacing. Aroma of roast, bitter chocolate, earthy hops, dark malts and light coffee. Similar flavor, adding mild bitterness and a light sweetness. Medium body with ample carbonation and a lingering, dry finish. Wow, mind=blown! notalush (5867) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 19, 2014
Draft at the brewery - black pour - kind of like their porter, but with a beefed up dark malt character and a drier, more roasty character - approaches with dry cocoa and some raisin - a little cream sweetness before it dries out, with some roast, light earth, the faintest hint of smoke - dry mineral and coffee finish - pretty solid stout, but the porter should be your go-to dark beer here.

At hogsheads brewery with Chelsia and Garret. Pours black with creamy grey head that drops to lacing. Aroma is coffee toffee, dry chalky notes. Taste is chalky coffee notes. Easy drinking great bold stout flavors. I really like the roasty beer notes this brewery is putting out. onceblind (9440) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 30, 2013
Black pour with a delightful foamy tan head. Nose is roasty with some toast and dark cocoa and burnt black grains. Flavor is bittersweet with dark cocoa, with some roasted black grains, and a little bit of black coffee. Rich and roasty. Tastes more than its 5% body. anders37 (26251) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 6, 2013
Draft @ the brewery. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty dry chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish. BlackForestCO (978) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - OCT 13, 2013
On cask at the brewery. Beautiful opaque black pour topped with a dense, creamy chocolate brown head that left great lacing as it receded. Roasted malts dominate the nose accompanied by bitter chocolate, chalk, coffee, faint black licorice, and some notes of dark fruit (plum). Smooth, moderately sweet entry with some soft chocolate leads into an explosion of roasted malts with hints of burnt coffee paired with a soft dark fruit (plum) sweetness followed by some vanilla that lingers into the moderately dry, faintly chalky finish. Moderate, silky smooth mouth feel that just begs you to drink more. Overall, this is the first beer in quite a while that had me eager to enter a rating...that says a lot. This has a great balance, great drink-ability, and nice depth. I love it. jcnielsen (3403) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - OCT 12, 2013
