Danish: En blød rund stout, der bør nydes når du har mest brug for afslapning. I smagen er der noter af kaffe, chokolade, vanilje & med en dejlig eftersmag af en god Bourbon Whiskey

   AROMA 3/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 14/20

[email protected] clear, dark brown with a thin brown head. Aroma is lightly roasted malt, a hint of chocolate - but also this note of mass produced beer-aroma? Flavour is sweet, dark and some roasted notes too. Ends with a mild alcohol, wiskey note. Body is light to medium, thin texture and a average carbonation. Goes well with a homebaked bananacake, with a thick dark chocolate cover.

Mild og let humlet øl. Kunne godt have lidt mere skarphed i smagen. Ellers fin øl

This bourbon stout is not barrel aged in bourbon casks, such as I might think. It is very fashionable to beer to be stored in all sorts of different types of oak barrels, ranging from the white wine barrels to cognac, whiskey and sherry etc. HB Brew has chosen the easy solution by simply adding a splash of bourbon in their stout, and it does not give the same character. It has otherwise good notes of little vanilla, coffee and dark chocolate, but rather quickly appears it with a remarkable acidity and high alcohol tang which probably caused by added bourbon. I think it’s a shame to ruin an otherwise good stout in this way.

On tap at DØE BeerFest 2012 [Backlog]. Perhaps I’d already had too much when I had this one, because I thought it was a bit boring. Noted that I’d expected more bourbon in the taste. Slightly disappointing.

Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a big head. The aroma is malt, roasted, chocolate, vanilla and some wood. The flavor follows the nose with additional notes of smoke. The palate is sweetness and roasted with a high level of carbonation. Overall a good beer.

[email protected] Chocolate, liquorice, black currant aroma. Black, light brown/greyish head, good lace. Sweetish, sourish, chocolate, black currant, red berries, hints of chocolate and bourbon. Thinnish. Bitter from the bourbon? Too sour.

Draught. Mild roasted and vinous aroma. Black colour. Small off-white head. The flavour is mild with some paper and coffee. Well-rounded.

Bottle @ Kolding Ølmesse, 2012. Pours ruby amber with a off white head. Vague roast and fruit. Very little bourbon. Hints of vanilla. Medium bodied. Easy, clean and harmless.
