4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Murky almost brown with a small tan head. Strong mocha aroma, tons of vanilla and rum, ripe plumb and a hint of vegemite...
Palate is smooth at first, but when the sweetness dissipates, it becomes almost harsh coffee and leaves some dry cocoa feel. Similarly, the flavours start with a sweet chocolate/rum/dark fruit and finish more towards the coffee vegemite thing. Wonderfully complex and drinkable.
Bottle sample at a tasting at zvsn’s place. Thanks tomer. Black with a tan head. Coke and coffee aroma, roastiness and toffee. Sweet and roasty, coffee and some bitterness. Medium-to-full body, soft fizz, long coffee finish. northropfrye (3625) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 23, 2017

Clear dark purple brown beer, creamy solid beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty roasted, heavy, some dark chocolate, coffee touch, dusty, cocoa powder. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: pretty roasted, bit sourish, dark chocolate, some coffee, bitter hops. Aftertaste: more roast, some caramel, cocoa powder, very roasted, dark chocolate, bitter finish.
On tap at Hair of the Dog Phrom Phung, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dry cocoa powder and toasted malt. Flavour is aggressive on the palate, with dry cocoa powder and dry toasted malt. Aggressive carbonation, almost like a champagne. Strange but it works. Tap at Refuge - great roasty aroma - tastes more roasty than chocolatey - solid porter but not exciting - needs more chocolate thrust and creaminess IMHO. Missing the ’X’ factor needed to elevate it into stratospheric enjoyment.

Sweet, roasted, chocolate and coffee flavors, finish is bitter, well balanced. Medium-full bodied, smooth and pleasant texture. Nice porter. rayaron (1840) - Kfar Saba, ISRAEL - JUN 2, 2017
Bottle sample at a tasting at zvsns place. Thanks tomer. Brownish-red with beige head. The aroma has lots of ash, smoked, coffee, dark bread and fertiliser. Quite smoked flavor with notes of ash, coffee, hoppy, sourish and bitter, dark bread and fertiliser. Medium-bodied. BrewGuide76 (2) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 16, 2017 does not count
Great smooth, chocolate taste. Certainly one of the better stout/porters (compare Brew Dog Coco Phsyco).
