COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true summer thirst quencher! This refreshing Wheat Beer is styled after the famous "wit bier" or white beer of Belgium and similar to the German "wiess biers". It is a hazy light yellow in colour, and during fermentation takes on a white appearance. Holgate White Ale is based on a special combination of wheat and barley malts, lightly hopped and loaded with a delicate combination of fresh Orange Peel and ground corriander seeds - all combining to make a refreshing and easy drinking Ale, perfect for summer conditions.

I had to rate all these beers at once because they're so fantastic! I love the texture and the flavour. This beer has a lot more boldness to it than the others.

Cloudy off white color on pouring. Plenty of flavour and left a clean aftertaste. I think I could drink this all afternoon...

Nice one. Contender for me favourite Aussie brew. This shit is nice and yeasty and strawberries rather than banana which heaps of other wit/weiss/white beers have (as if Id know). Pity Sri Lanka didnt win the cricket that was airing as I downed it.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2005 Very good attempt at a white ale. Bursting with coriander and citrus flavours. Poor head retention. Very, very refreshing on a warm day in the beer garden of the Holgate Brewhouse. One of my real favourites. For an Australian attempt at a white ale, this is probably as good as your gonna get in this country.

Pours a decent golden color with a small head. Minimal aroma. Tastes of cloves, orange peel. I concur with "dubs" I can taste strawberries. Not to bad for and Aussie witbier.

omhper (25740) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 26, 2003
Bottled. Cloudy dark yellow with stable head. Odd aroma of licorice, oranges and oregano. Sweet and mild, with notes of vanilla. Pizza-like oregano finish.

looked so nice and dirty dishwatery coming out of the bottle. very morish, just enough spice to keep you interested. easily the best australian wit though the competition isn't much to speak of; I think eczematic's fudge wit is in 2nd place

JoeMcPhee (9550) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2005
330 ml bottle. Pale yellow, cloudy beer with a thick lasting white head. Massive coriander and orange peel aroma. Some bubble gum and some candyish sweetness as well. Flavour is quite juicy. Big coriander and citrus flavours. Wheaty dryness and spice on the finish along with some dusty yeast.

ndon (857) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 28, 2010
Pour at Warners at the Bay Beer Festival 2010. Noticeable belgian yeast aroma, flavours of coriander, yeast, honey, and spice. Decent for the style, but nothing spectacular.
