Review: Can of Holsten Pilsener Premium: 4.8% ABV
This typical Northern German beer is brewed according to the strict purity laws of the Reinheitsgebot of 1516 using only the finest quality, pure, all natural ingredients – hops, barley malt and spring water. Standard issue for German brews.
The aroma is grainy with a nice hoppy smell , giving a typical pilsner smell, all lovely and sweet.
On pour a large frothy head appeared, which didn’t hang around. The colour is a clear golden yellow colour. There is some fair lacing. Looks decent enough.
Enjoyed the taste, a nice balanced crispy mouthful of flavours (barley, grain, yeasty) whizzing around, all tasty. The taste is mostly grassy hops with a hint of sweet grain. Lager taste
There was a hoppy bitter aftertaste which was a little strong in the end
Overall it is a very smooth lager, not strong but clean, crisp and very drinkable, definitely a good session beer. I felt it had a lovely feel to it which was soft on the mouth. I liked it, best I had in a long time, nice and refreshing, and one I will return to again in the future. MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - NOV 16, 2003
Bottle, Eurostar Station, London. Mine was 5.2% ABV. Has a roasted malt flavor resembling coffee. Reminds me of Deibels Plato 13(?). Very good. wastl (130) - GERMANY - DEC 2, 2007
Bottle. Golden colour, average carbonation. Less bitter than one might expect from a german pils from the high north. Notes of malt and much more bitter in the end than in the beginning. Good Pils. massingasetta (744) - München, GERMANY - JAN 26, 2015

Verder fris, makkelijk drinkbaar. Een perfect bier. caplinlee (37) - KAZAKHSTAN - JUL 4, 2013
Bought from a supermarket in Kazakhstan. A Carlsberg Kazakhstan beer. ABV of 4.7%. This lager has a lot of criticism judging by other reviews but to be fair I am a fan. I actually quite enjoyed it. It was very refreshing and found it to be a decent pilsener although it must be said that living in Kazakhstan and sampling beers from Kazakhstan it hasn’t had to compete against much. So on the grand scale of things it’s probably nothing special but in the Kazakh market this is a winner. Krone (1) - MEXICO - AUG 26, 2015 does not count

Probably the first German lager that many people in Britain tried.
As such its a good introduction before moving on to the more tasty one’s. Nevertheless it has a pleasant pale appearance
and a light refreshing taste. Quite unique in its taste yet easy to knock -not to be turned down on a warm summers day. Martinus (4601) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - MAY 5, 2014
Clear warm golden colour, firm white head. Malty aroma, hay. Light bitter flavour, very grassy. Grassy bitter finish. Very fresh, better than expected.
