2011 saw the introduction of our IPA, which has proved to be very popular in both Free Trade and the selected Joseph Holt pubs that stock it. Our IPA is a very pale, traditional, English ale with relatively high bitterness and a fragrant hop aroma. It is brewed with traditional East Kent Goldings and Slovenian Styrian Goldings.

Holmen2 (3638) - NORWAY - MAY 17, 2015
From cask at The Old Monkey, Manchester with KL and LH 10.05.15. Clear golden. Dense off-white head. Aroma of wine gum. Similar taste. Low bitterness.

imdownthepub (14552) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 2, 2014
Cask conditioned at The White Horse, Banbury. Gold with white head. Sweet and slightly thin beer, some fruitiness, a little tinned peach with syrup type note, some grainy notes plus a touch of boiled egg on the aroma. Just average, and not an IPA in any shape or form.

weaselkenievil (1608) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2014
Can’t remember what it was but we were drinking this to clear up space to put something else on in The Macc, it was cheap. An average English bitter, not a bad one but it’s hard for me to get excited about beers like this. Each to their own.

Crown & Anchor, Manchester 21 Jan 13. Gylden. Lavt skum. Forsiktig & god fruktaroma. Smaken er tørr frukt. Frisk. Avslutter tørt.

mike_77 (6661) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - DEC 22, 2013
Clear pale blond. Aroma has pale malt and light fruity sweetness. Thin body. Mild on flavour. Fruity hop in the background. Light bitterness.

McNeillR (2315) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 18, 2013
Very pale golden with a luscious head that spritzers into the body with each tilt. Creamy cereally nose, barely noticeable. Weirdly cold pour, possibly from the distinctive Holt Handpull. Watery crisp cornflake malt, lifeless hop and inoffensive bitter finish. Not horrendous but not actually tasting of anything.

Cask, Sams Chop House, Manchester

cask at Sorder ... golden amber ... thin white head ... soft wishy washy floral hop

13th April 2013
Hamilton Hall Spoons. Light haze on this gold beer, little white head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Fresh and dry pale malt, slight rawness. Okay mild citrus hops. Finishes dry with a mellow bitter linger. It’s fine but a bit a bit dry.

ralphdot (1094) - Billingham, Durham, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2013
3.8% gold colour with a good head, hop aroma, a bit of a watery IPA but not bad.

bhensonb (15191) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 19, 2013
Cask at The Lord Moon of the Mall on Whitehall. Pours light amber with a white head. Aroma is floral with a touch of fruit. Med minus body. Flavor is almost tropical fruit - but more likely light pitted fruit. Some citrus. Light caramel. Decently hoppy and moderately bitter.
