Bottle from Morrisons. Drunk on a train. Malty aroma. Like brown malt. For a strong beer it’s quite thin. yes malty. Some hop on the finish. Malty is about all I can say. Like lots of brown malt but with a thin finish. Disappointing.

Pours chestnut brown, tan head. Aroma mainly of roasted malt and notes of caramel and fruits. Taste is caramel, dried fruits, sweetness balanced by carbonation. Fruity and low bitter finish. Good brew.

50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. A attractive deep reddish chestnut colour with a thick creamy beige head; the aroma has some raisins and demerara sugar, and also some damp earth; the mouthfeel is creamy with a complex blend of flavours - some bittersweet chocolate, some purple fruit, coffee and raw cane sugar, all balanced by a pleasant bitterness; and rounded off by a dry, warming, nutty finish. Rather good.

500ml bottle at home, from Morrisons, Ayr - opaque dark brown, foamy beige head, fruity, caramel aroma, sporadic lacing, harsh toffee flavour with a bitter finish, oily, good carbonation

500ml bottle courtesy of mr_h. Very derk red, big foamy head. Sweet treacle aroma. Toffee malt flavour. A bit watery and weak for a 6% beer.

Bottle. Medium frothy tan head. Chestnut body. Malt, hops, spice, oak, that wonderful traditional beer aroma, fruit, soap, chocolate syrup, alcohol, tobacco, apricot. Bittersweet and tangy. Dry finish. Good.
