Pint bottle poured into a large chalice. Dark ruby with beige head. Coffee and prune aroma. Really rounded toffee and dried fruit flavour, with the fruit predominant. A bit of orangey citrus marmalade reveals itself. Full bodied, slightly sticky flat carbonation. There are many of them, but tthis is a lovely "fruitcake" beer Welley_Alves (262) - Sao Paulo, BRAZIL - FEB 1, 2013
Excelente Strong bitter ale inglesa de Manchester, aroma caramelado de malte, gosto multado com amargor honesto. Lembra uma porter, porém com amargor de bitter inglesa. Excelente!

Dark brown colour, almost no head. Aroma of wine, nuts, malts. Taste is light sweet, very well balanced. Medium body, slick creamy texture, average carbonation. Long aftertaste Gary (2088) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 2, 2015
500m . In a La Chouffee tulip. I have scrolled right past this beer many tims , but I got a psychic message that it might be a new tick as I yawned while in the shitty Morrisons section with no other newbies . A big coffee accent in the nose ,..earthy soil hops , licorice , dark chocolate bite .This nose has attitude , I like it ! This brew is a burnt purple/red liquid and with a large khaki cream head rests well in the tulip. the flavours suggest roasted malts , bitter and rich coffee expression , coffee , roasty licorice . . Notes of chewy dark toffee malts ,burnt butterscotch . Quit a cloying , syrupy palate through out . Rounded up with a nice kinda mellow dry conclusion ! scotty (1226) - SCOTLAND - MAR 30, 2016
Bottle from Morrisons. Deep dark reddish mahogany in colour, off white head slowly fades. Lightish aroma of malt and spice, medium to full body, slightly sweet, nice spice and zesty undertones, good longish finish. Good stuff!

Near black. Big coffee aroma. Sweet and malty. Notes of licorice. Creamy. Salty finish.
Bottle, from York Beer Shop. Deep red brown almost black. Thin off white head and gentle condition. Starts off with a thick barley wine aroma that mellows quickly to leave a beefy roasted malt note and some sweet burnt toffee. Mouthfillingly sweet and malty in the mouth with a gentle smokiness and some fruitiness. Finish is long and roasted with some chalkiness and a suggestion of wood. A dark cola brown coloured beer with a thick off white head. A light burnt sugar, caramel dark malt aroma with hints of raisiny dried fruit. A dry mouthfeel. A bitter taste, full of caramel malt elements, fruity, raisiny, all a little but like a rich fruit cake! The richness carries on into a slightly sweet finish. berkshirejohn (6687) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2015
50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. A attractive deep reddish chestnut colour with a thick creamy beige head; the aroma has some raisins and demerara sugar, and also some damp earth; the mouthfeel is creamy with a complex blend of flavours - some bittersweet chocolate, some purple fruit, coffee and raw cane sugar, all balanced by a pleasant bitterness; and rounded off by a dry, warming, nutty finish. Rather good.
