I really like this beer. Not quite sure what it is. The aroma smells like one of those quarter whiskey barrels you can buy at the hardware store, but the taste, the taste is exceptional. A really, really good beer.

2009 vintage. Black pour with dark tan head. Fruity aroma. Chocolate and fruit flavors, pomegranate and cherry. Finishes tart, but it does not linger. I don’t usually like fruit in beer, but this one pulls it off.

Dark black pour with brown head. Roasted malts and dark chocolate on the nose. Taste is very interesting mix of chocolate, fruit, dark roasted malts. An enjoyable beer.

Draft at GOBF ’08 (from notes)...Pours dark brown w/ a fizzy off white head. The nose was strong hints of cocoa, chocolate, and coffee mixed kindly with some sour yeast. The flavor was a mix of the above aromas followe by a sour tartness provided by the pomegranate juice. The palate was moderatly carbonated, dry and tart. Very intriguing beer...

Bonus bottle courtesy of weeheavysd! Pours so-brown-it’s-black with a minimal tan head. Aroma is dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate and berry. Flavor is very ROAST forward with a hint of pomegranate in the finish. Drinks more like a porter than the Impy it’s classified as. Interesting.

Pitch black with a tan head. Chocolatey aroma with some ripe fruit. Flavor follows suit with lots of chocolate and sweet/tart pomegranate and cherry. Coffee and chocolate stand out on the finish. Syrupy mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Definitely unique and worth coming back to again.

Rocket City Brew Fest 2011 - interesting beer. Not sure what it was. It was like a stout but with a strange fruit syrup-iness injected. Acidic and tart which helped to offset the sweet. Alcohol was present in the taste - a good thing in this case. Not highly carbonated.

Poured from a 12oz bottle a pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma is very pleasing of milk chocolate, raspberry truffles, and pomegrant. Flavor is amazing or rich chocolate that is complemented by the slight tartness from the pomegrant. Different from any other beer I have had....absolutely delicious!!!
