Shared a glass some time ago at the Brick Store Pub. This mead smells nice; lots of honey, with notes of hickory and vanilla. Following the first sip, though, the chilies come forward (Tabasco sauce leaps to mind) and don’t go away. The flavor is sweet, with a lot of earthy spiciness that doesn’t overpower, but is unpleasant and difficult to drink. This is a very unsettling experience in a mead. Wouldn’t recommend.
Bottle. Clear golden color with virtually no head. Sweet honey aroma. Sweet burning flavor. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 30, 2015
Sampled at the Cajun Cafe Cider and Mead Fest 2015. Pours a still deep honey yellow. Nose is noticeable honey, vinous red wine, some earthy peppers, and mild booze. Flavor is similar with vinous character, honey, earthy peppers, and some dry oak. A definite sipper and a cool combination of vinous and sweet. tchaos (428) - New York, USA - MAR 25, 2015
Draft at Cajun cafe. Pours clear, still Amber. Aroma is Honey and fruit with a hint of pepperiness. Taste is Mild honey and pepper with medium-light body. Dry finish. There are many better capsicumels. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - MAR 11, 2015
Bottle. Pours a clear dark golden color with very little head on it at all. Nose seems a bit sweet, with both honey and apples coming through. Taste is slightly sweet, but also has a nice bit of chili spice coming through, and makes it quite tasty. desurfer (1302) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - FEB 10, 2015
Draft at The Mansion. Didn’t notice the heat at all. Some moderate sweetness, a bit sour, with a flat palate. Not really my thing.

On draught at Belmont station - pours clear golden without head. Nose of strong vinegar. Taste is dominate of white vinegar, hints of Merlot and honey. More like a drinking vinegar.

On draught at Belmont Station. Clear honey color. Aroma is sweet honeycomb and vinegar. Taste starts with the aroma notes, but adds wine, chili, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce. One of the most interesting things I’ve tasted, but too much going on. Travlr (24302) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 26, 2014
Draft at Of Love & regret. Bright yellow color. Aroma of red fruit on a background of subtle peppers. Taste is smooth, bittersweet pepper flesh, minimal heat, dry finish. Nice. Chudwick (3181) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - APR 18, 2014
Taster - nose is honey in a Parisian metro station. Definitely mead + honey. White wine similarities. Cloying but somehow dry. Not too much heat. Fairly sweet but also makes my nose sweat, but not from the heat. Fairly boozy. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 14, 2014
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. This time, it’s explicitly labeled as a "Chili Meade" on the menu. Mostly clear golden color. A very mild haze to it. No head or lace. Really nice fruity aroma up front in the palate. Like, some tropical type fruit, really interesting. Some apple, pear, and a good mild chile kick in the finish... Definitely much different than the last IQHILIKA I had on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Really dig the mild chile bite in the finish, it’s enough to be noticed, but not so much to wreck my palate or make this hard to drink. It’s a nice balance. There’s enough moderate sweetness to mellow out the chile spice. Great, complex tasty mead... I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Sweetness not as big as you’d expect for 12%. It all works very nicely.
