Cask and Bottled Conditioned.
A premium dark red beer, based on the recipe used for the 150th celebration brew. Copper has a strong dry palate with an unusual old fasioned aftertaste. Copper is brewed with Maris Otter malt, flavoured with proportions of aromatic and brown malt, creating a highly distinctive character. Fuggles, challenger and Goldings whole hops are used, and the beer is both late hopped in the copper and dry hopped in the cask.

Bottle 50 cl. Clear golden with an off-white head. Medium body, a little sweet malt and some flowery hops. Surprisingly bitter finish. A slight saltiness. Unusual. 270511

Cask, handpump at The Crown and Tuns, Deddington, Oxon, 08.11.10 Malty rich beer that is both dry and with a decent bitterness, quite thickish mouthfeel for an ESB. Very good to start with though the enthusiasm waned after a little while, however this is a decent beer and in really good condition. Possibly becomes a little sweet for me after a while and maybe a bit one dimensional but its still very good. Poured copper as the name suggested with a wonderful cyrstal clear clarity and nice white head. Credit where credit is due, this beer like the Vale Misty Moutain Hop that I had at the Hop Pole in Aylesbury were an example of two beers that were served in spankingly good condition. b] A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov12 3.4

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2011 1) Cask handpull at The Pear Tree, Hook Norton and The Reindeer, Banbury. Same biscuit and honey malt fullness as the Old Hooky; hints of pear and apple but with an added dimension of beansprout, walnut, chocolate and earth lurking beneath. Full, complex, hugely drinkable... Leafy citrus hints as from the Willamette Ive been nibbling of late, especially on the burp. Drawn-out, nutty malt afters. Easy drinking and layered with malt and fruit depth. Tasty. 2) Bottle. Good looking beer with a huge tufted and head and bags of condition. Aroma mouldering pink/red apple and warm polythene; flavour discreetly heady with orange peel and fruit loaf notes and a lightly roasted, nut-hinting finish. Grew on me. 646414.

Cask-conditioned at the JDW on Whitehall 23/09/09. Copper coloured with a decent, off-white head. Sweetish, malty aroma with a touch of the hedgerow. Flavour was also malty, with some earthiness and a decent bitter finish. Good.
