(on bottle) This is a almost perfect balanced stout in my book.Has loads of milkchocolate and nougat in the nose, sweet and full. The smoothness continues into tha flavour, witch become more dark in the latter stages. There are spicy parts too, soe allspice and cikorie. Te finish gets real dry and bitter; like a coffee bean. Bottle. Fizzy colaish head. Very dark brown colour. Flavour is malty, I guess, but with some off-flavour. Plastic? Mockba (78) - DENMARK - NOV 13, 2005

Pours dark chestnut brown with good head and lacing. Aroma is burnt toffee. Taste is dry, coffee and malt with a fresh aftertaste - a bit unusual. Good, if a bit weak.

50 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Dark brown colour with a weak head. Very nice smooth aroma of roasted malt. A really pleasant mouthfeel of roasted malt and some coffee. Great taste not bitter but some dry. oh6gdx (26482) - Vasa, FINLAND - OCT 3, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 12, 2007 Bottled. Black/dark amber colour, big beige foamy head. Sweet caramellish malt in aroma. Chocolate, roasted malt and caramel in favour. A bit watery, but the flavour is very pleasant. 5 4 7 3 12 hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 18, 2005
Bottled. Very dark brown colour, huge beigeish brown creamy head. Coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and some hops in aroma. The flavour is very chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and spices. Aftertaste is lots of smoked wood and roast. 7 4 7 3 14.
Dark colour but not much of a head. Aroma is complex: coffee, chocolate and christmas cake fruit. Taste is of burnt toast and coffee, reminiscent of tiramisu. Sweetness at first; at the end comes a moment of sourness followed by bitterness. I’m not a regular stout drinker, so this was interesting, even intriguing, though I don’t think it will become a favourite pint Kåstå (1273) - Mol, BELGIUM - AUG 2, 2005
Dark copper coloured beer with a small head. The aroma is pure roasted coffee. The taste is very bitter with burnt coffee. The finish is somewhat dry. Still it is a good beer. johndoughty (5398) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 18, 2005
Dark and rather bland.Quite bitter for a stout but not one of Hook Nortons best.
