Dark amber/ reddish colour with a nice beige head. Malty nose with a fruity sweetness. Flavor is malty with lots of dark fruit and hints of chocolate in the finish. Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 15, 2007
Vintage 2004 - tasted May 05. It’s a dark brown reddish mahogany color and a small head. The aroma has notes of dark fruit and the mouthfeel is full, and the flavour is rather complex and delicious. It has notes of roasted malts, light sweetness, dark fruit and hints of licorice and spice. These words might lead the thoughts in direction of Belgian beers, but this is lighter and more refreshing. I like a beer with so few %, when it has this very nice and full-bodied taste.
Vintage 05 - tasted November 05. It’s not yet as smooth as the 04, but the notes are pretty much the same. I do however also find nuts in the flavour in this one though. jtw (1163) - farmington, Michigan, USA - JAN 4, 2008
pint.9 oz bottle pours a walnutty brown into my guinness pint glass. mild aroma of malt, toffee, roasty figgy fruit and lightly spiced, though it doesn’t seem to have any actual spice added. minty flavor, very delicately balanced and quite nice and smooth for 5.5%. medium-bodied, but any more and it would be sticky; any less and it would be weak. i like this very much. 500 ml bottle. Beautiful dark red body with a dense brown head. Sweet, roasty malt aroma. Flavor is fresh, roasted malt, brown sugar, caramel and some dry fruit. Light body with a gentle bitter finish. Balanced and nice. Strykzone (7356) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAR 17, 2008
Dark brown with highlights that are more brown than amber. Aroma is delicious. It is full of fruit and sweet malt. Raisin is prominent. Flavor is also full of dark fruit and is not as sweet as the aroma and is moderately bitter. It is roasted nut with coffee. This is a wonderful beer that one could spend an evening with.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Dark ruby colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit and wild berries. Malty taste with dark fruit, dark rye bread, chocolate, nuts and a balanced bittersweet finish. Medium body with a rounded, smooth malt character. Fairly sweet. An excellent example of a nice winter warmer. Jonte (1413) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - DEC 4, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2008 Bottle. Brown colour with a beige head. Malty, sweet and roasted aroma with notes of fruit, caramel and chocolate. The taste is malty and roasted, a little less sweeter than the aroma, notes of fruit, nuts, light spiciness. A bit of hop bitterness in the finish. bbrock81 (317) - Le Mars, Iowa, USA - DEC 10, 2008
Pours a fairly dark brown, with a medium head. Aroma is of English hop, malt, and a bit of spice. The flavor follows, being more malty, with a hoppier finish. A very decent beer. ante (3373) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 23, 2008
Pours out in a clear ruby brown colour with small creamy white foam. Malty aroma of nuts, fudge, cocoa and grass. Medium to full-bodied with notes of nuts, minerals, fudge, wet grass, dried fruits and cocoa. Smooth airy mouthfeel. Medium-bitter finish of nuts, caramel, fudge and dried fruit with a lingering fresh note of minerals. Quite odd, but tasty! Hook Norton is great, really.
