Dark brown, thin white head. Loved the maltiness of this, all caramel, chocolate and then a dry mellow hop finish.

You never know for sure how a beer will cellar, and I was worried I let this one go too long, but after one sip, those concerns are dashed. This is a very malty beer, toasty, caramely, nutty, and earthy with a pleasant smokiness to the malt. The nose is equally malty and earthy, with aromas of brown toast, roasted nuts, toffee, caramel, fallen leaves, and decayed logs. Medium-full in weight, light-medium in carbonation, and reasonably dry on the palate for such a malty beer. Clear, ruddy brown body is capped by a thin, light-tan head that settles quickly to a thin ring, leaving no lacing to speak of. Very nice to drink, enjoyable, a repeatable purchase.

Bloody nice strong dark ale. Not that strong really, but enough to not be to weak. Would buy again for sure. Oh yeah, it’s English.

Bottle at home, 27/05/16. Rich chestnut to mahogany brown with a decent beige cap of bubbles that retains well. Nose is rich malt, straw, grain, toffee, dark fruit esters, light spice. Taste comprises fruit loaf, dates, brown sugar, brown bread, light spice, treacle toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with balanced bitterness. Decent flavoursome English Strong ... goes well with cheddar.

Cask. Just comments and numerals due to social interaction. Dark mixed fruits, caramel, rich complex malt for such low abv beer.

500ml bottle. Dark brown appearance with a small dissipating tan head. Malty aroma, caramel, earthy notes, dark fruit, hint of chocolate. Taste follows the aroma, also a slight nutty flavour and light roast. Slightly sweet with a lightly bitter finish.
