"A strong, dark brown beer, offering a dominantly malty palate with nutty overtones. The finish is lyrically sweet that speaks for its strength. A fine partner to the Cheese Board."

Tried at the Felix Holt, Nuneaton. Ruby to amber colour with a light beige head. Aroma nutty, malt and light toffee. Creamy smooth body with a light sweet taste.

Cask handpull at The Crosse Keys Bishopsgate as ’Hook Norton Twelve Days’, 5.5%. Almost brown with a reddy orange hue, translucent, foamy diminishing tan head. Aroma is brandy and dark chocolate up front, more airy and indistinct later on. Body is smooth, quite light, low carbonation. Served quite cold for cask - really felt this one all the way down. Taste is raisin, carpet, mixed spice, brandy, noticeable booze. Quite dry and well attenuated. Not sugary sweet like many in the style. Quite good, but I’d be happy with just one half.

Cask at the Moon under Water, Hounslow. Near black with a lasting beige head. Lightly plummy nose with hints of cocoa and roast coffee. Rich and creamy textured, dry-sweet and roasty-fruity. Finishes burnt-sweet and dry roasty bitter. Delicious.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2016 Excellent malty and almond aroma. Nutty caramel flavours with sweetness hint. Good strength and nice bite on palate. Brown ruby colour. Best Christmas drink so far this year. Year later and even better.

Cask, half pint at Crosse Keys (JDW) in London, shared with Finn. Clear, deep dark brown body. Beige head, some of it remaining. Dark malty aroma with hints of almond. Malty flavours as well, including nuts, caramel and anise. Roasted bitter ending. Medium bodied. Fits the season (30.11.2015).

Cask at William Jolle (Spoons), Northwood Hills. A dark brown/ruby coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, caramel, dark fruit aroma. Tastes the same, malty, caramel, dark fruit, slightly nutty (like me). One of the better UK festive brews available.

niquillis (2752) - Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 10, 2015
Cask at Arnold Machin (JDW), Newcastle under Lyme. Pours mud brown with a light tan head. A little thin but some choc, bitter roast, bit more choc, dark fruit. Enjoyable.

Fra cask på Crosse Keys Bank 30 Nov 15. Delt med Rune. Ultramørkebrun/svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum. Litt lacing. Lett søt kraftig maltaroma med litt krydder. Avslutter tørt.

Beese (3051) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2014
Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 27 December 2013. Poured a clear, dark ruby colour with a dense, off-white head and excellent head. Sweet aroma of caramel, Christmas pudding and almonds. Initial flavours dark fruit, chestnuts and apple pie. Toasted malt on the palate with some cinnamon and some stewed fruit.

mR_fr0g (12917) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 28, 2013
Cask at the noon under water Watford. Aroma is sweet nutty caramel and mineral. Flavour is toast, caramel and sweet nuts. Smooth palate with some praline. Riby red amber pour with a steadfast light cream head. Sweet and mineral in the finish. OK.
