A bold new beer from the brewers at Hop Back
This golden beer is truly strong in flavour while low in alcohol. Maris Otter gives its characteristic silky, biscuity maltiness, quickly followed up by the delicate spicy lemon of East Kent and Styrian Goldings. This is underpinned by the subtle orange flavours of coriander and the dry, clean bitterness of Challenger hops. Available in 9 gallon barrels only.

Cask (gravity) @ The 18th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2012, Reading, Berkshire England.

Clear medium yellow orange colour with a average, open and frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, thin malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120503]

[email protected] Criterion, Leicester. Flat looking golden beer with a sour like and fishy aroma. The flavour is watery bitter and sour. Overall a poor sour and bitter beer.

Cask at the Wyndham Arms, Salisbury. This is the first cask attempt at a 2.8% beer I’ve tred, and I’m impressed - there’s a serious amount of body and bitterness despite the low ABV. It’s bright amber with ring of white head that leaves a pleasant lacing on the glass; the aroma is sweet and biscuity; it’s surprisingly full bodied with a biscuity malt body and a light grassy bitterness; leaving a light and dry finish.

Cask conditioned handpump Criterion Leicester 21/11/12. A yellowy blonde coloured beer with a whitish bubbly head. Sweet, sugary and tart flavours aren’t a good mix, but that’s what we have here sadly. There’s a bit of vomit in the nose too. The tart lemony notes are acceptable but otherwise it’s an ill conceived beer.

Cask (Wyndham Arms, Salisbury) - Pale golden with a small white head. Elderflower and lemon in the aroma. Refreshing, but fairly thin taste with notes of tea, lime and elderflower.

Gravicask (PBBF2012, Tuesday)
Smells of peaches - in tins. Sugary liquor included. Drying acrid hops. Finish is papery. Dull - I chucked this as there was much better stuff to drink here.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Light haze on this gold beer, residual white head. Light dry palate, mild fine carbonation. Light lagerish malt underpins typical golden ale hops - citrus orange, mild lemon and grapefruit. Dry finish.

oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUN 4, 2012
[email protected] Beer Festival 2012. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, grassy, earthy and mildly bready and cardboardy notes. Flavour is caramel, mild toasted notes along with some earthy and grassy notes.
